This year we supported the youth who needed us the most, when they needed us most – and we couldn’t have done that without you, our BGCMW family. Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest provides social, educational, physical and cultural programming for boys and girls in the MetroWest area. The intent of these programs is to enhance the development of children and to prepare young adults to be responsible and productive members of the community.

HAPPY HOURS PRESCHOOL Happy Hours Preschool, located in the Marlborough Clubhouse, is fully licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care. Our group of teachers provide a safe and nurturing environment with opportunities for small group, as well as large group, activities focused on developing physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth. Classes are offered for children 2.9 years to 5 years of age.

In 2021, Happy Hours Preschool reconnected with program alumni through a virtual art night.

DISCOVERY CLUB

The Discovery Club before and after-school child care program at four Marlborough public schools is fully licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care. We maintain a 1:13 staff to child ratio, provide a diverse program curriculum, and offer daily healthy snacks. The program curriculum offers structured activities and classes designed to create a balance between having fun and working to enrich educational and life experiences.

16TH ANNUAL BIDS FOR KIDS AUCTION & GALA On Thursday, October 21st, the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest hosted the 16th Annual Bids for Kids Auction & Gala virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, Foundation for MetroWest was honored for its continued support of the Clubs with the Community Partner for Youth Award. Larissa Thurston was awarded the Michael C. Sullivan Memorial Award. Jordan Poirier was awarded the Inaugural Alumni Impact Award.

We raised $150,000 for critical youth programming and more than 300 attendees logged into the virtual event from 10 different states!

FESTIVAL OF TREES On Saturday, December 4th, the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest hosted the Festival of Trees in our Hudson Clubhouse gym. This socially distant friendly event brought together community members, local businesses, and youth groups. We had over 50 hand decorated trees and wreaths that were raffled off to raise funds for the Clubs.

Twenty local craft vendors also sold their goods.

This festive event was a great way to spread some holiday cheer for the community during this difficult year.

SUMMER PROGRAM 2021 The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest successfully ran our summer programs for 8 weeks at all three Club locations. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, days were still filled with outdoor activities, tie dye, sports, and group challenges. Campers were even able to tackle their summer reading list with lots of rewards from the prize table along the way! The summer experience provided lasting relationships, personal development, and fun during a very difficult time.
