COMPANY ACTIVITIES / BUSINESS FOCUS

L’Apprimerie is a transmedia publishing house, a digital agency and a diffuser of interactive ebooks.

Through our publishing structure, as publisher, co-publisher or service provider, we work on the design of enriched ebooks adapted to the widest range of devices (tablets, computers, mobiles) (IOS, Android). We propose solutions to facilitate access to reading (teread aloud, font adapted to dyslexic readers, reading in audiodescription for visually impaired audiences). We develop in-house, between 10 and 12 ebooks enriched each year, giving special attention to the layout of the text, its illustration and its sound design in order to offer a poetic, intuitive and elegant reading experience.

We are currently working on creating the first online library dedicated to the production and streaming of interactive and accessible ebooks for primary and secondary levels, targeting schools and libraries

EXPERTISE

We are dedicated to combine paper expertise and technological innovations. We are one of the only publishing house to propose interactive eBooks in EPUB 3 format and also the only one to propose a solution of diffusion exclusively dedicated to interactive eBooks: Les cartes à lire.

We give a very special care to the graphics and the layout of our eBooks because an eBook can’t be a degraded version of the paper. We are exploring the possibilities of digital texts and new content organizations, both for classical and contemporary literature.

Since our creation, we have realized more than thirty ebooks, entirely in-house. We have developed our own tools and processes to optimize production.

When we say developing new ways of reading and accessing content, we also mean accessibility of these contents. Since the creation of L’Apprimerie, accessibility issues have been systematically addressed in the creation of our ebooks. Today, we propose one of the first French catalogue of enriched youth ebooks and more than half of them offer reading aids.

Our expertise in EPUB 3 format and its ecosystem allows us to be involved in training curricula and research projects, both at national and international level.

These are all opportunities to get professionals familiar with EPUB 3 possibilities, to support the promotion of the standard and to promote best practices in terms of design and accessibility.

Since 2016, we have been the leader of a European project including the creation of a library of adapted ebooks for dyspraxic children: Dyspraxiatheca.
