Key features to consider when buying a sink. Sink configuration

Even though the bowl (number, size, depth and shape) is the main feature of the sink, it is not the only thing to bear in mind. You have other options that can make your sink more user-friendly and provide you with a more functional working area. Drainers extend your working area and allow easy clean-up as well as food preparation. They will also keep the work surface clean and dry. Teka colander bowls are available in either half or quarter bowl sizes. They can be used for rinsing, draining straining and cleaning up. Whatever your sink space a colander bowl will give you another functioning utensil. Relationship between sink size and capacity.

Bowl depth, taper and radius are the three basic measurements for comparing sink sizes. Depth, of course, is the distance from the top of the rim to the bottom of the sink. Bowl taper is the inward slope of each side of the sink from the rim to the bottom. Radius is the measure of the bowlâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s corners and bottom where the sides and bottom meet. One point to remember: The deeper the bowl, the straighter the slope, the smaller the radius, the bigger capacity. Accessories

One such feature is the pop-up basket waste, a practical accessory which and can be opened and closed to fill and empty the bowl without direct contact with its contents (e.g. dirty water, detergents,.....) Most of our sinks incorporate 90mm basket wastes. The basket traps the food particles left from washing up, or from cleaning, vegetables or fruits, so they do not block the sewerage system. It can also been removed for cleaning. Teka has not neglected the appearance of this accessory, incorporating unique design features.

Together, they make up a triangle enclosing all of users most frequent movements. The space available and its configuration will dictate the distribution of your kitchen. Listed on below are some of the most common types of layout with tips on how to optimise space according to those requirements.

In line This is the best option when space is limited or the kitchen is narrow. As the name suggests, all the units are in a line which will inevitably put some of them far away from others. This problem can be addressed by making sure that the units are placed in the most logical order possible and that there are several worktop areas near the fridge, oven, etc. so nothing heavy or hot has to be carried very far.

L-shaped This design has many advantages with almost no drawbacks. When designed intelligently, it virtually eliminates the need for walking as it’s possible to reach the oven, fridge or sink just by turning round and taking one step.

In parallel Of course, the position of doors and windows in many kitchens means that only two opposite walls can be used for fittings. While this may seem to be a disadvantage, in fact, it makes it relatively easy to place units close together (either to your left, your right or just behind you) and it avoids that claustrophobic feeling you can get when you are surrounded by fixtures and cupboards on all sides.

The Island Ideal for large kitchens that are reasonably square. The great advantage of an island kitchen is that you always have plenty of worktop space, whichever part of the kitchen you’re in. Ceramic discs All Teka cartridges use sintered ceramic discs of high resistance. These discs all have porous surfaces which retain grease longer helping to achieve smoother, gentler movements and therefore prolonging the life of the mixers. The operating gear is insulated from water giving therefore continuous lubrication.

Stainless steel washers Cartridges which have stainless steel washers, which act as a type of bearing, offering a smoother, gentler movement and avoiding the wear and tear caused by friction.
