When you consider just how much time you spend at the kitchen you realise how important it is to have a kitchen that combines design with user-friendliness. When purchasing a kitchen sinks it is extremely important to consider each sinks key features and how they can improve your lifestyle. Below we list key considerations that should be taken into account when choosing your Teka sink. Sink Configuration Even though the bowl (number, size, depth and shape) is the main feature of the sink, it is not the only thing to bear in mind. You have other options that can make your sink more user-friendly and provide you with a more functional working area. Drainers extend your working area and allow easy clean-up as well as food preparation. They will also keep the work surface clean and dry.

Larson Design Guide - Teka

Relationship between sink size and capacity Bowl depth, taper and radius are three basic measurements for comparing sink sizes. Depth, of course, is the distance from the top of the rim to the bottom of the sink. Bowl taper is the inward slope of each side of the sink from the rim to the bottom. Radius is the measure of the bowl’s corners and bottom where the sides and bottom meet. One point to remember : The deeper the bowl, the straighter the slope, the smaller the radius, the bigger the capacity. Accessories Teka’s optional accessories let you make the most of your sink, as they have been specifically designed for each individual model. Crockery baskets, plate racks, colander bowls, chopping boards, waste disposal units etc. will become and indispensable part of your kitchen routine. The right care of your accessories will extend their useful lives. Teka colanders, drainer trays and stainless steel baskets should be hand washed, rinsed thoroughly and hand dried. Wooden chopping boards should never be soaked in water, rinse after each use and dry thoroughly. Choosing Teka means exclusivity and orginality. With a combination of its Spanish and German roots the Teka sink families are endeared by the Spanish flair for design and the German ideals for engineering.

Every job in the kitchen involves a multitude of movements and small tasks, and the kitchen equipment must be optimally distributed to make life easier and avoid wasted efforts. The space available and its configuration will dictate the distribution of your kitchen. Listed here are some of the most common types of kitchen layouts with tips on how to optimise space according to these requirements.

The “U Shaped” Kitchen Rooms with three walls give you the benefits of a corner kitchen but with added space. The design is perfected when each of the three main kitchen taks are placed on each wall.

The “In-Line” Kitchen This is the best option when space is limited or the kitchen is narrow. As the name suggests, all the units are in a line which inevitably put some of them far away from others. This problem can be addressed bu making sure that the units are placed in the most logical order possible and that there are several worktop areas near the fridge, oven, etc. so nothing heavy or hot has to be carried very far. The “Island” Kitchen

The “L-Shaped” Kitchen This design has many advantages with almost no drawbacks. When designed intelligently, it virtually eliminates the need for walking as it’s possible to reach the oven, fridge or sink just by turning round and taking one step.

“The Kitchen has at least three defined zones : the cooking zone, the washing zone and the storage area. Together they make up a triangle enclosing all of the user’s most frequent movements” XX

Larson Design Guide - Teka

Ideal for large kitchens that are reasonably square. The great advantage of an island kitchen is that you always have plenty of worktop space, whichever part o the kitchen you’re in. Naturally, if you have the hob in the centre of the kitchen, the extractor hood is placed directly above it. If it is not possible to have a vent made in the ceiling, the duct can disguised as a discrete “false beam” leading to the nearest external wall.

The “Peninsulas” Kitchen

The “In Parallel” Kitchen Of course, the position of doors and windows in many kitchens means that only two opposite walls can be used for fittings. While this may seem to be a disadvantage, in fact, it makes it relatively easy to place units close together (either to your left, your right, or just behind you) it avoids that claustrophobic feeling you can get when you are surrounded by cupboards on all sides. Because functional units are Centinox placed relatively close together the triangle of movement is reduced.

Another option for those who want and ideal design but the available space doesn’t allow the required measurements is the “Peninsula” design that enlarges the countertop to the centre of the kitchen. Equipment is installed perpendicular to one of the walls so the centre of the room becomes the focal point. This layout gives a personal look to your kitchen while creating different spaces, and it is Planar suitable for a breakfast bar Larson Design Guide - Teka

see the angles love the lines live the philosophy

As in every aspect of life, the kitchen has its own unique personality. Apart from the obvious functional aspects, the kitchen is becoming, in this restless and fast-moving world, an increasingly tranquil space focused on comfort and personal development. A place we bring our dreams and desires and a place where the varied scenes of daily life are played out with our friends and families. Isn’t this truly satisfying? Our homes and kitchens are becoming a place where people want to be, not just a drive through without a “How are you?” or “Hello” and this is how it should be.

The concept of the kitchen as a room totally separate to the living spaces within the home, a room created solely to prepare meals, has become increasingly obsolete. The status of the kitchen has risen in our minds and our actions. The kitchen is now a wholly integrated space; the very heart of our homes. The Expression series is born through the philosophy

of innovation. Innovation developed to create a living experience that will stand the test of time. To do this, we have delved into our emotions, with all their light and shade, and the result is the creation of new elements that come together to create a unique and harmonious space; a home without boundaries.

The expression series is personality defining, the angular lines and crisp design features will be an amazing addition to any home. With a variety of configurations you are sure to find the expression sink that suits your home.

a preparation center

Nowadays, innovation continues to be the philosophy of Teka at home. Therefore a modern kitchen is born : Sinks Convivium An advance that by combining simplicity and innovation incorporates a multi-concept : more than one sink in a single kitchen. Thus, the possibilities are multiplied, from the cooking zone to the washing area. If you place two or indeed three sinks with different sizes, installation or material you will possible enjoy the presentation of two different living concepts : increasing the working of the kitchen and allowing access for several users at the same time.

Multi-function sink with professional components The core of the sinks is the large bowl with professional dimensions. The bowl offers ample space for cleaning of large pots and baking trays. Also it is possible to work simultaneously on 5 levels. Maximize the possibilities with the glass chopping board which can be moved horizontally and vertically over the complete sink unit. Work as a professional - this is the philosophy of the Pento sink!

Frame Series picture perfect

An ideal environment of Teka sink convivium would involve setting up in a kitchen a double bowl undermount ink with a stylish drop-in model, plus a preparatory sink. This way, several water spaces are created multiplying the possibilities and increasing the comfort. Let your imagination fly and improve your life vision. Teka Sinks convivium is creativity.

Sink Care

(length, width, depth)

keeping it looking lovely

includes 90mm waste with overflow

Timeless. Elegant. Like fine silver, its beautiful finish gains with age and use. But this does not mean we can neglect the care of this essential kitchen item. As a rule, stainless steel’s best friend is cold, clean water or a mild detergent solution, applied with a soft sponge, rinsed well and wiped dry. Here are some of the products or elements that can damage your sink: Chlorides are found in almost all soaps, detergents and cleaning products and can be damaging to stainless steel. They are water soluble, however, so just rinse away residues after each use. It is also advised that you do not store these products underneath your sink. Like most metallic surfaces, your stainless steel sink will scratch. Don’t worry, these are simply usage marks which will eventually blend into the overall finish of the sink. The quality of your water can affect the appearance of your sink. When water has a high iron content, a brown surface stain can form on the sink giving the appearance of rust. Also, in areas with a high concentration of minerals or oversoftened water, a white film may develop on the sink. To combat these problems, we suggest you wipe the sink dry after each use and give it a more thorough clean each week using a recommended abrasive product (e.g Inox Creme).

Micro-textured Finish light texture, heavy advantages Most Teka stainless steel sinks have what is called a polished finish. This elegant finish creates an enduring, easy-to-clean lustre that is impervious to water stains and calcium deposits. The polished finish requires numerous hand and machine buffing operations which produce a beautiful lustre design. For those who prefer a brushed appearance, another option is the normal satin finish. Abrasive grinding produces a uniform pattern of satin finish lines on the metal surface. Teka stainless steel sinks are also available in linen or microtextured finishing, which offers an attractive high relief pattern on the sink’s surface. This exclusive finish is also made from ‘surgical’ stainless steel, i.e. with all the characteristics of stainless. The stainless steel hard-plus finishing gets better result indeed than the standard stainless steel thanks to the special treatment applied to the surface that improves the hardness and the resistance against scratches, making it an ever lasting perfect piece of design in the kitchen.

Undermount Series The secrecy of the hidden The popularity of undermount sinks is growing because of what they offer to kitchen design. Get the best from your luxury countertop and the desired kitchen deign without having any obstacles for cleaning. Teka undermount series offer a huge collection of shapes, sizes and configurations that can easily be customised adding more single units or accessories. Undermount sinks should be used only with solid countertops of marble, granite or modern composite materials such as Caesarstone. Materials such as Formica and other wooden products are advised against due to the nature of the application and the countertops exposure to water. Teka undermount sinks are mounted with specialised clips, to ensure that the sink is held strongly in place. Undermounting gives the sink and surroundings a much sleeker appearance. It prevents dirt from getting trapped around or below the rim and is absolutely waterproof when installed correctly. There are many advantages to using undermount sinks :

Food spills and other debris can be easily collected and pushed right into the sink. It leaves a smooth surface that is easy to clean and you need not worry about materials getting trapped on the rim of the sink

Due to its seamless nature, it does not require that much attention or maintenance efforts. You can simply wash it with soap and water, or simply wipe it, and its sparkling clean once again.

The self-repair mechanism of stainless steel Stainless steel has a unique feature: it is self healing. Due to the alloy elements in the stainless steel, a thin, transparent "passive layer" is formed on its surface. Even if the stainless steel surface is scratched or otherwise damaged, this passive layer, which is only a few atoms thick, instantaneously reforms under the influence of oxygen from water. This explains why stainless steel does not require coating with corrosion protection to stay bright and shiny, even after decades of use.
