Marie:Iliveinthevillage,onedayIwaswalkingmy rescuecockerspaniel,TeddywhenIspotted2dogs runningupanddowntheroadnearthevillagehall.

IknewwhotheybelongedtobutIhadnophonecontactdetails fortheowners.Ihadtoleavethedogsandknockontheowner’s doortoinformthem.

Marie:Wehave36members.Todatewehavehad6 rescues.Thebeautyofthisisassoonasadoghasgonemissing everyoneisalerted,asearchpartysetupifnecessarytogetthe dogreunitedwithitsownerasap.

AstaffmemberoftheRSPCAispartofthegroup,sotheyareawareofanydoggoing missing.

Marie:Therearesomanylovelydogsinthevillage.Ithasalsobeenusefulforshared walksaroundthearea,sharingtipsandtrainingadvice.

Princessishopingtobethecentreofsomeone'sworldandbetheonlypetinthehome!She sometimesneedshelponwalkstostayfocusedonyoubecauseshecanbedistractedby,and occasionallyreacttootherdogsshesees.Despitethisshehasbeenwalkedwithotherfriendlydogs atthecentreeverydaysinceshecametousandreallyenjoysthecompanyofothercalmdogsata distance.Shelovesherfood!Sothisisagreatwaytogetherattentionwhenyouneedto,andworks wellfortrainingtoo!

Princesscan'twaittogetoutinthemorningandspendtime playinginourenclosedfieldsormeetandgreetbarnwith herhandlers.Shelovesagameoftug,willplayfetch,orjust simplycuddleuponthesofaforafuss.Sheisthebest all-rounderyou'llevermeet.Shehasrecentlyspenttimein ahomeandherpreviousownersreportedshewasareally goodgirlinahomeenvironment.

Sheissoaffectionate,herfavouritethingintheworldisa well-deservedcuddleattheendofafunpackedday.

Haveyoueverseenthembeingrungorthoughtabouthavingago?

WeoftenusedtohearthebellswhenwalkingourdogsandwonderedhowonegotinvolvedinringingWhilst gardeningwewerechattingtoaneighbourwhohadrecentlymovedintoBlackmoreEnd,(surelythemainpointof suchactivity),anddiscoveredthatmostSundayssheringsthebellsattwolocalchurchesandthatpractisesessions wereheldatStMary’sinWethersfieldonaMondayevening.

Scrollonacoupleofweeksweturnupandforthefirsttimeeverweregiventheopportunitytohandleabell.With considerableassistancewepulledtheropeandmadeitDing,orwasitaDong?Westayedontowatchthe “experts”showincrediblecontrolswitchingbetweenthemselvesatspeedandinnodiscernibleorderWedecided wewantedmore

LearnerseveningatStMary’sisTuesdaywhenRoy,(afontofknowledge)givesusthebenefitofhiswisdomand expertise,accompaniedbyotherkindringerswhoareverygenerouswiththeirtime.

We’velearntthat;

Ageisnotanobstacle-theband,(aswenowknowitshouldbecalled),rangesfrom11to81,(probablyolder,but itwouldberudetoask).Wehaveseenpeoplecomeinusingwalkingsticksthenringaway.

It’ssomethingthatcanbedonewithyourotherhalf,orareallygoodexcusetogetoutofthehouse(It’sthe samewithyourchildren)

AnOpenStudioisachanceforpeopletocome&seeyourworkinaninformalsetting. Therearenorulesabouthowmuchorhowyoudisplayyourwork.Itnormallytakesplace eitherinyourstudioorwithinyourhome,shedorgarden.Noteveryonehasadesignated ‘studio’.Thereisno‘right’oneplacetowork.Yourstudiospaceiswhereyouproduceyour artwork.Thismaybeinanareaofyourhouse,ashedorouthouseforeg.However,ifyou prefernottohavepeopletraipsingroundyourhouse,useyourgarageorgardenoreven rentaroom.Youcancordonoffyourexhibitionspacewithinyourhomeusingsignson closeddoors,ropedoffareas,strategicallyplacedfurniture,ineffecthoweveryouwish,to limitgeneralaccesstotherestofyourhome.Artistscanexhibittogetheriftheywish.The mainattractiontoOpenStudiosisarareexperienceoftheuniquesettingeachartisthas foundtoworkin.Artistsgettoexplainhowtheirworkevolves&decideforthemselves howmuchorlittleoftheirworktoshow&howtodisplayit.
