Christmas Goodie Bags Bring Joy to Others
Oconomowoc, WI
Every year during the holiday season, BetterLife Members Kathie Mayer and Carol Nuernberger create “Christmas Goodie Bags” filled with candy and personal care items. They share the festive goodie bags with the less fortunate or those in need of some Christmas spirit. This year Kathie and Carol continued their annual tradition with an added twist: hand-crocheted lap blankets donated by Kathie's neighbor. Also new this year, Kathie and Carol decided to deliver the gifts to the residents at Evin Senior Living Center in Oconomowoc, WI. The residents were surprised and thrilled! The lap blankets were such a hot commodity that Evin Senior Living reached out to Kathie to find out how they could get their hands on more for other residents in the community.

Honoring With Angels
Oconomowoc, WI
As you read in the December 2024 issue of the Beacon, BetterLife Members – Oconomowoc, WI, held a brat fry in August and raised $1,000 for the ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice “Angel Tree of Remembrance.” During the Christmas season, ceramic angels with name tags are hung on the Tree of Remembrance, honoring loved ones who have passed away.
Christmas Party Fun
Denmark, WI
On December 8, 2024, BetterLife Members – Denmark, WI, held their annual Christmas Party. BetterLife members, family, and friends gathered at Roosters Coop in Denmark, WI, to celebrate the holiday season. Attendees enjoyed food and refreshments, Santa visited with candy for the little ones, and two lucky kids won bikes! To top it off, Balloon Magic — a store that offers a wide range of balloon-related services — created balloon masterpieces for guests young and old.
Annual Holiday Party Celebration
Kewaunee, WI
On December 7, 2024, BetterLife Members – Kewaunee, WI, gathered at Moxie’s Supper Club in Casco, WI, for their holiday party. Attendees enjoyed door prizes, treats, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. At the event, members collected (and later delivered) food bank items. Additionally, members purchased and wrapped gifts for a local family in need, including toys and money for essentials.
Two hundred white ceramic angels to remember those who have passed away decorate the Remembrance Tree at AngelsGrace Hospice.
Kids attending the party enjoyed the balloon creations and gifts that were given out — a special and fun way to enjoy the holiday season.
Levi Weidner and the rest of the kids attending the holiday party were excited to take turns sitting on Santa’s lap, who, along with Mrs. Claus, made a special guest appearance.

If one of your New Year's resolutions was to eat more veggies, here is an easy and fresh salad recipe to help you stick to your goals. You can use the salad as a meal or as a side on the dinner table. Add any other veggies you have in your refrigerator to add more color and crunch.
Green Salad*
Ingredients:
½ cup chopped onion of choice
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
2 (10 oz.) packages mixed salad greens
4 pieces thinly sliced chicken deli meat, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
¼ tsp onion powder
3 dashes garlic powder
2 pinches salt and ground black pepper to taste
3 Tbsp balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing
Directions:
Healthy Recipe Ideas.
Gather the ingredients. Place onion and bell pepper in a microwave-safe bowl; heat in microwave on high until soft, about 1 - 2 minutes. Set aside to cool. Combine onion, bell pepper, salad greens, deli meat, and tomato in a large salad bowl. Sprinkle with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper; toss well to mix.
