Mario Carey is the President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens MCR Group. Carey is recognized as one of The Bahamas’ most respected real estate professionals and has attained the designations of Broker/ Appraiser, former Vice President of Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA), Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS). Carey holds the record of selling the largest beachfront property of $21 million (vacant land) in The Bahamas. He has also been the Top Producer of real estate transactions in Ocean Club Estates, since 1999. With over 30 years of sales experience, Carey founded MCR in 2008, and now employs an elite team of highly skilled associates who speak multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Mandarin with offices located in New Providence, Abaco, Exuma and Beijing. Mario Carey started his career after earning a B.S. in Real Estate from Florida State University and worked as a top performer for seven years in Tampa, Florida. Moving back to the country of his birth, The Bahamas, in 1990 Carey has retained his passion and commitment to the real estate industry and is seen as an advocate and expert in the Bahamas Real Estate Industry. Outside of real estate, Carey is devoted to spreading Autism Awareness and is the President of R.E.A.C.H. (Resources and Education for Autism Related Challenges). In 2014 he was nominated for an Icon Award for Outstanding Achievement in Humanitarianism for his work with REACH. In 2012, at the 1st annual Queen’s College Alumni Association Ball, Carey was honored for Excellence in Civics in recognition of his outstanding contributions to various civic organizations within the community. Carey is also a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization), We The People (an advocate group for civic change) and The National Council for the Disabled. Carey competes in several local and international triathlons where he proudly represents R.E.A.C.H. He also enjoys free diving, tennis, boating and golf.
At 37, with accolades for achievements and record performance, Tim Rodland was named partner at Better Homes and Gardens MCR Group, the fastest-growing franchise and residential database in the industry worldwide. The appointment was the latest in Tim’s ladder of accomplishments. Three years earlier, he had earned Platinum status from Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, making him one of the youngest in history to achieve the top three percent in sales globally .Rodland knew he had a knack for sales from the time as a young teen he found a buyer for a relative’s treadmill and personally conducted the sale. The reward of putting buyer and seller together drove him to study Entrepreneurship and Business at New York Clarkson University, New York. In 2012, he joined Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (BHGRE) when founder and CEO Mario Carey was recruiting “a highly energetic and motived” group of sales associates. Every year, Tim proved himself to be a super salesman and in 2019, he sold a $13.5 million beachfront residence in the exclusive resort of Ocean Club Estates located on the eastern end of Paradise Island. Humble and softspoken, the dedicated young partner has represented owners of private islands and resorts as well as luxury residences in exclusive communities including Lyford Cay, Old Fort Bay, Ocean Club Estates, Port New Providence, and others throughout The Bahamas.

The Bahamas market has been hot and active lately with a lot of purchases particularly in the higher end of the market and predominantly over the two million dollar price point. The market has now slowed down a bit for the holidays but typically picks up after the new year and traditionally is quite active until July. We are now in our high season.
The Bahamas has generally been a strong market for persons seeking a vacation homes in a tax friendly environment with great weather, English speaking, in the same time zone as major financial markets with a stable currency and strong financial sector. Furthermore, The Bahamas has a great advantage with daily flights into major cities around the US & Canada and U.K.
In the Real Estate sector, we anticipate that the market will continue to be strong in 2022 and due to the lack of good quality of housing inventory we believe that we should be able to procure a buyer for at least one or both of these properties within a 12 month listing period.
