Chance to Shine mark 10th anniversary at BGA On the 13th May England Cricketer Moeen Ali joined us at BGA to mark the 10th anniversary of Chance to Shine. The charity was launched at Bethnal Green Academy in May 2005 and since then has brought cricket back to a third of state schools, reaching over 2.5 million children, including one million girls. Ali practised with BGA students and Hague Primary. It was a huge success and fun was had by all.
It's great to help Chance to Shine celebrate their 10th anniversary at Bethnal Green Academy. Amazing kids, fantastic charity!

Students pass their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh!
Student earns a trip to South Africa through Social Action.
The bronze Duke of Edinburgh group successfully passed their assessment expedition on the weekend of 13th - 14th June. Students really impressed the external Duke of Edinburgh assessor demonstrating the wide ranging skills they have developed including map reading, orienteering, teamwork, leadership and practical skills such as setting up tents and cooking outdoors using trangiers. I was so impressed with the students attitude and effort all weekend and it was very nice to hear several positive comments from the assessor and locals who encountered the students. Congratulations to all for achieving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award!
As a participant in the Clouddog Open Horizons programme, sixth form student Mehjebi Chowdhury earned a place onto the Clouddog Immersion programme in South Africa! Mehjebi’s #iwill pledge to engage in environmental social action meant she decided to create a rainwater tank for the school farm which would be used to water the plants. Environmentally, this would help decrease storm water runoff, and benefit the school long term, reducing annual tap water costs. Mehjebi’s dedication to her project earned her a place on a month-long trip to South Africa organised by Clouddog. She will have the unique opportunity meet professional zoologist and environmentalists, and participate in exciting wildlife trails whilst exploring the diversity of different cultures and communities. We are all so proud of Mehjebi’s hard work and passion. Please congratulate her for such a wonderful achievement.
