BETHLEHEM ACADEMY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FARIBAULT, MINNESOTA – Since launching the BA Capital Campaign last September, the school has received gifts, pledges and commitments amounting to $3,000,000 as of January 15, 2011, according to school leadership. The BA Campaign calls for improvements and additional space for band, choir, and theater, a field house to address athletic and additional fine arts needs, an elevator and ramps to meet accessibility concerns, and an additional endowed scholarship fund.
Established in 1865, Bethlehem Academy’s existing school facility was built in 1949 and serves the academic needs of over 300 students. Bethlehem Academy is the first of over 100 schools established by the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters. Planning for this campaign was initiated over five years ago to address the current and future growth needs at Bethlehem Academy.
BA Board of Trustee Joe Varley, who graduated from the school in 1965, and who owns Varley Construction in Faribault, spoke at the launching event saying that both the BA Board of Trustees and BA School Board have endorsed the campaign. Varley said growing enrollment at BA and the great success of BA graduates living throughout the country “adds up to a good situation for graduates and past parents to support the project.”
Bethlehem Academy is the longest-running Catholic school in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. To insure the future, Bethlehem Academy is inviting the generosity of its many graduates, parents, grandparents and friends to join in contributing to raise $11 million to keep the miracle of education going strong in Faribault.
BA President Principal Sherri Langfeldt and Campaign Chair Franz Boelter addressed the mission of the campaign. Langfeldt said, “The school has not conducted a major building campaign in more than sixty years. The school is debt-free and in a good position to make this investment in the future. This campaign is an important historical step for the future of BA.” Boelter said Bethlehem Academy is proud that more than 95% of its graduates continue their education by enrolling in postsecondary schools. “We believe this school, through its great faculty members, helps to launch students to successful futures and careers. A successful capital campaign can ensure more generations of great BA students”, Boelter said. If you would like to become a part of the BA Capital Campaign, we invite your participation and support.
