Bethany College students have a variety of support services and resources at their disposal to assist in successfully completing their courses of study.

The McCann Learning Center provides students with a comfortable space designed to accommodate their particular needs for academic support, including supplemental instruction and tutors, writing assistance, learning technology, and study skills workshops. Additional support services are also available for students with specific learning disabilities.

Students may utilize these on-campus resources to supplement their classroom assignments and improve their overall academic performance.

Mccann Learning center

The McCann Learning Center, located on the main level of Cramblet Hall, provides a welcoming place for the members of the Bethany community to enrich their learning and teaching skills. The mission of the center is three-fold:

1. ENHANCE the learning skills of all students

2. TRANSFORM the learning experience of students with learning disabilities

3. SUPPORT the heightened performance of faculty and staff

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the Center houses Academic Support Services, the Writing Center, the Program for Academic and Social Success (PASS), and Disability Services. The Center provides a helpful, relaxed environment that promotes effective studying and academic success.

Academic Support Services are available to all Bethany students. Student resources include supplemental instruction, study groups, individual content tutors, coursespecific software, study and meeting rooms, and more. Individual and small-group study skills workshops are also provided.

Writing center

The Writing Center is available to assist students with the writing process, from generating ideas through publishing products. The professionals and student writing assistants who staff the Writing Center are committed to providing students with the support necessary to become competent writers. The Center is also a place where students can informally share their writing with other students.

The Program for Academic and Social Success (PASS) is a specifically-designed program for students identified as having specific learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. Students participate in 1:1 appointments with certified, experienced learning specialists to develop the metacognitive and multisensory strategies necessary for college success. A separate application process is required for PASS, and an additional fee is charged, based upon the level of services.

Housing Process

As a residential college, Bethany houses students on campus all four years they attend. It is important for first-year students to familiarize themselves with housing options, room assignments, and the selection process.

How Assignments Are mAde

Once students pay the deposit to confirm their attendance at Bethany, they are eligible to complete the housing application form. Building and room assignments are made in accordance with the order in which the deposits are received. Therefore, students should pay the deposit as soon as possible to receive their residence hall of choice. Housing assignments for incoming students are completed by late May.

How to request A roommAte

Our housing application gives students the option to request a roommate. All information fields must be complete for the request to go through, and the request must be mutual among both parties. The request may not be honored if both parties do not write each other’s names on the housing application. Potential roommates must pay the deposit and fill out a valid housing application to be considered.

Due to space limitations, we cannot always able to honor roommate requests. Students submitting late applications will be housed where space is available.

COCHRAN HALL (CO-ED)

Cochran Hall is Bethany’s newest residence, housing over 70 students in its recently renovated modern suite-style rooms. Each suite accommodates two to six students. Within the suite, residents share common living space, a common bathroom and either single or double bedrooms.

Woolery House and Goodnight House are two-story residence halls designed to promote community living. Residents live in cubes consisting of four bedrooms and a common bathroom. Each bedroom contains two single beds, dressers, closet space and desks with chairs.

Campbell Village (CV) suites are designed for four students, each with their own bedroom. All bedrooms are furnished with a double bed, dresser, nightstand, mirror/closet, desk, and chair. Each suite contains two bathrooms with a sink, vanity, a bathtub/shower, and toilet. In each suite, students share a living area and kitchenette.

The Bethany College Affordability Pledge

We will meet 100% of your demonstrated need through a combination of federal, state, and institutional aid.

Unless your need changes, your financial aid is guaranteed for each of your four years of enrollment. We enroll graduates, not first-time students.

Our professionals are available to work with you to discuss the best strategies to meet your family’s financial circumstances.

Submit your FAFSA

Your first step in receiving funds to support your Bethany College education is to submit your FAFSA. Remember to share your results with Bethany College by providing our college code 003808.

Apply For Aid

Your completed FAFSA will not only provide you with access to federal grants and aid based on financial need but will also serve as your application for state and institutional aid that is both merit and need based. Even if you don’t believe you qualify for federal aid, it is in your best interest to complete your FAFSA as soon as possible.

Many forms of institutional aid are limited, and we want you to qualify for all the assistance for which you are eligible. Be certain to include Bethany College as a recipient of your aid report. Our College Code is 003808. We know you will be pleased to discover how affordable a Bethany College education can be!

ScholArShipS

All new first-year and transfer undergraduate degree-seeking students are eligible to be considered for merit scholarships through Bethany College’s robust merit-based aid programs.

Bethany College Merit Scholarships are offered without regard for financial need. Students eligible to receive multiple scholarships/grants will receive at least the value of the highest award. It is our general college policy not to “stack” merit awards. Consideration for any additional Bethany College scholarships/grants will be based on financial need and requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

There are many scholarship opportunities available to you at Bethany – including a full-tuition scholarship! Bethany offers the Presidential Scholarship, as well as the Honors and Kalon Leaders Programs, as competitive awards.

LEARN MORE

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Bethany College’s most prestigious award, the Presidential Scholarship, is a full-tuition award offered to a select number of high school seniors. Provided students maintain satisfactory academic progress, Presidential Scholarships will be renewed for up to four-years of consecutive full-time Bethany College enrollment. Recipients will service as Presidential Ambassadors for each of the four years they receive this award. Presidential Scholarships cannot be combined with other institutional awards.

KALON LEADER SCHOLARSHIPS

Over the course of Bethany College’s history, our graduates have shaped policies at the community, national, and global levels. Awarded by the Center for Enrollment Scholarship Team, Kalon Leader scholars must have achieved a record of distinction in service to their school and community and have maintained a commendable secondary school grade point average.

Recipients will be awarded $23,000 annually for each of their four consecutive years of full-time Bethany College enrollment provided they meet academic and program requirements.

HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

The Honors Program is a curricular, co-curricular, and residential approach to education that focuses on teaching and learning at the highest and most exhilarating levels. Drawing on the abilities and flair of the best of our faculty, our diverse group of students start their first year with two Honors Seminars that replace the first-year experience and college writing requirements. Combined with special events and activities, these seminars provide the basis for the academic program and the opportunity for honors students to grow intellectually as they make their transition to college. Honors students are housed together in the Honors Residence, advised by the Honors Director as well as by a major advisor, and an Honors Residential Assistant in a unique living and learning community designed to challenge and support them. Honors Program Scholars are awarded $23,000 annually for each consecutive year of full-time enrollment as long as they meet participation and grade point average requirements.
