Description
The Olive Lane site offers an opportunity to implement urban green infrastructure and energy-efficient practices. With an average annual precipitation of 17 inches, rain becomes a valuable resource for bioswales and green roofs. Covering over 4 acres, the site is ideal for stormwater management. Green roofs reduce energy consumption by 0.7%, leading to cost savings of $0.23 per square foot. The project promotes alternative transportation options like biking and electric vehicles, emphasizing air quality monitoring due to its proximity to a main road. Overall, the project aims to enhance climate conditions, air quality, and campus experience through green initiatives.

ORANGE CIVIC CENTER PARK
Orange City Hall, officially known as Orange Civic Center, was built to consolidate city services as the city grew. The Civic Center holds historical significance to the community yet has become a passing landmark of the city. With contextual site analysis, the location of City Hall has potential to become a community hub where locals and visitors of the city will activate the spaces within the building. The goals for the development of this design is to create a third space, engage the community, and promote biodiversity, while respecting the original Mid-Century Modern design. After meetings with the mayor of the city, design iterations have progressed with elements of the original design principles and an action plan to incorporate local resources, create volunteer opportunities, and showcase waterwise plant material.
Responsibilities
• Developed site analysis from site visits and additional research to respect historical significance.
• Organized an exhibit including goals and programs to present to the City.
• Implemented Waterwise Planting and design features in the conceptual design.
