In its growth from a small, limited-service community hospital to a comprehensive multi-dimensional continuum of care, PBMC Health has responded to the growing healthcare needs of the entire region. As the population of eastern Suffolk County continues to grow and age, those needs will continue to expand. Through the efforts and initiatives of the PBMC Health Foundation, with the continued support of a generous and forward-thinking community of donors and stakeholders, PBMC Health is acting to anticipate those needs.

Challenge: Living Up to our Commitment to Continuous Improvement in Patient Safety and Quality of Care Continuous advances in technology, treatment protocols and evidence-based safety practices have made it possible for regional providers like PBMC Health to offer levels of quality comparable to those found in major urban centers such as Boston and New York City. s Recognition as a Leader in Safety PBMC Health has been rated in the top 2 in the Tri-State Area and in the top 3 in all of NYS for Patient Safety by a leading national consumer rating agency. s 5-Star Rating for our Skilled Nursing Long recognized as the leading determining factor in hospital quality, PBMC Health’s nursing has been recognized by both US News & World Report and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as among the best in the nation. s Center of Excellence Designations for Bariatric Surgery and Joint Replacement Centered in our award-winning Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery, our Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Program has received Center of Excellence recognition from the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and our orthopedic surgery program has received Gold Seal recognition for total hip and knee replacement from the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. s A New, State-of-the-Art Progressive Care Unit The new unit will provide individualized care for medical and surgical patients whose needs are not serious enough for the ICU but too complex for the regular in-patient floor, in a setting designed to maximize patient and family comfort and be more conducive to patient recovery.
