Thinking out of the box. Jorge Reyes (second from left) looks at the solution for a visual perception puzzle that was being projected on a screen while attending a True Leader afternoon class during the Southwest Pacific Conclave at CSUN on March 3.
Pacific Conclave Returns to CSUN Chapters from three states converged on CSUN over the weekend of March 2-4 for the 2012 Pacific Southwest Conclave. About 60 brothers took part in the mini-leadership conference at a cluster of meeting rooms near the recently built freshman dorm annex of the North Campus Satellite Student Union. Among those in attendance were 16 Beta-Rho undergrads and two alumni, Rob Press (BP 495) and Rick Childs (BP 83). Brothers from as far away as UC Davis, University of Nevada - Las Vegas and Arizona State dropped by the Lindley House over the weekend during the evenings. Other chapters that sent reps were from Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo, Loyola-Marymount, USC, UCLA, UC San Diego and the University of San Diego (USD).

This was only Beta-Rho’s second experience with hosting a conclave. The last time brothers from southwestern chapters converged on the CSUN campus for a conclave was in March of 1995. Former chapter president Mike Cooperman, who helmed the chapter’s first conclave, had a less-than-favorable impression of that weekend. “It was a nightmare,” was all that Brother Cooperman could offer when asked about his CSUN conclave recollections. High Alpha Alex Samowitz took the conclave preparations in stride and played down any worries about the event’s Next Page >>>
