Dear Friends & Neighbors, What a summer! No room at the beach, on planes or trains, and traffic again on West Chester Pike! We’re charging back out after the world pandemic took center stage for too long. It’s great to see our friends and neighbors more regularly again.

Bringing People Together

This month begins our fourth year of publishing Marple Friends & Neighbors in print and online at www.MarpleMag.com. And also our neighboring hometown magazine, Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors, is online at www.NewtownSquareMag.com. The 37th issue of each magazine now makes a combined 74 issues with Marple Newtown residents on a cover! Look online to get reacquainted with the Marple families we introduced you to in our past issues. And go look at Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors online, to see how many Newtown Square families you know who found themselves on the cover of their hometown magazine. Every month, Readers tell me how they look forward to each new issue. In every case, after a few kind comments, every Reader gets around to saying the same thing: “You know, I actually have known more than several of the families on the cover.” How great is that! Well, of course they do. We’re all social beings. We’re friends. And we’re neighbors. But we don’t realize just how many people we know in our community through our work or volunteer service, schools or sports, or our family members. Whether taking walks, shopping locally or worshiping together, over years of living in Marple, we become connected far more than we realize. And that’s at the root of our magazine’s motto: Bringing People Together. I know you’ll enjoy this issue of Marple Friends & Neighbors. After all, you’re one of us. And I hope you feel the same way about our advertising Sponsors seen on these pages of your hometown magazine. They’re one of us too. Enjoy the best-of-the-rest of this summer. Shop Local. And whenever possible, please try to do business first with our advertising Sponsors who truly deserve our support.

Dear Residents, August is often calm and quiet. It's a time to relax before the hustle and bustle of the school year. Before this summer comes to an end, I hope you can squeeze in a few more fun activities and celebrations. Our Calendar of Events on page 28 has some great ideas! Did you know it’s National Golf Month? Celebrate at Paxon Hollow Country Club for a round of golf and then a delicious meal on the patio at Anthony’s. The party continues as we say “Cheers to 3 Years” of Bringing People Together through our Marple Friends & Neighbors magazine. The Marple Newtown 4th of July Parade was a huge success, and we have the full recap about winners. This month’s featured family is the Scholls, whom you may know if you belong to the Splash Club. And our Business Profile highlights Bryn Mawr Glass, which has been our area’s expert glass company for the past 65 years. We are looking for more Marple families, individuals and organizations to feature in our magazine. If you’d like to nominate someone, please email me at hstupak@bestverionmedia.com.
