Since 2008, PB Contracting has been providing high-quality installations for all types of doors. Their expertise in door installation has made them one of Delaware County's most requested door installers. Located in Broomall, they proudly serve all of Delaware County, Overbrook Park and Wynnefield Heights. They install many kinds of doors, including entry, French and double doors and patio doors. Paul grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, until he was 20 when his family moved to the United States. Having attended trade school in Jamaica, he began working here in the United States as a contractor, installing high-end kitchens and bathrooms. “For many years, I liked renovating kitchens and baths, but those jobs often took several months to complete,” explained Paul. “Ultimately, I realized that I prefer jobs with a quicker turnaround time. I had a lot of experience installing doors, and was able to start my own company. I also really enjoy what I do. It doesn’t really feel like a job when you have fun doing it!”

Paul met his wife Crystal McGovern in 2010. She now serves as PB Contracting’s Office Manager. She handles scheduling, financials, and the day-to-day operations. Born in Bucks County, PA, Crystal grew up in Florida, eventually attending college at the University of South Florida, where she studied Business Management.

With Crystal’s background in retail and business management and Paul’s hands-on experience installing and repairing doors, Crystal and Paul make a great team. “We work really well together,” said Crystal.

Before we take on every new project, we fully explain the process and expectations to the customer," Crystal said, "and we give them different options, to help them make the best decision for their budget and their home.

Paul and Crystal have three children: Hailee (8), Alanna (6) and Paul Jr. (3). After living in their first home in Aldan for several years, they moved to their forever home in Broomall in 2019. “We love Broomall because it’s a nice quiet community and not as busy as some other towns,” said Crystal. “And the schools here are great!” “After installing a lot of doors and working in homes in Broomall and Newtown Square,” Paul added, “I realized how much I like the homes here, especially ranch homes, which aren’t always easy to find.”

The oldest Barrett children, Hailee and Alanna, both attend elementary school in Marple and play soccer here. Big fans of Hershey Park, the family tries to take at least two trips there each year, one in the summer and one during the Christmas holidays.

It’s been quite a busy year for PB Contracting with many homeowners choosing to do more home improvement projects. But when Paul and Crystal do get downtime, they love being outdoors with their kids. And when Paul gets to unwind, he watches old Westerns and Kung Fu movies or listens to his favorite music: Reggae.

Someday, Crystal and Paul hope to involve their children in the business. “We want to teach them the skills and work ethic they’ll need to pursue and accomplish whatever they want to do when they’re older,” said Crystal. “When kids help out in a family business, they get to learn a lot about organization, multi-tasking and problem solving!”
