Congratulations to Mike Volpe, Sproul Lanes December 2019 Student of the Month!

Written by Liz Burnett

We’re pleased to announce that the December Sproul Lanes Student of the Month is Archbishop John Carroll High School Senior Mike Volpe! To celebrate this recognition, Mike received a Certificate of Achievement and a gift certificate for a “Pizza Bowl” party from Sproul Lanes, our new Sponsor of this award program.

Mike is very deserving of this award: He’s a member of the National Honor Society, the Community Service Corps (CSC), Tri-M (the Music Honor Society; he’s Vice-President), and his school’s TV crew and baseball team. He’s also in Carroll’s Pep Band, Pit Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, playing drums and all percussion instruments, which he has played since joining St. Anastasia’s school band in 5th grade.

He has also played baseball since age 5, in Marple Township’s Little League program, then the Babe Ruth and Legion Ball leagues. And he’s been on Carroll’s baseball team every year, and has umpired for MTLL's summer tournament teams.

Mike makes service a priority: He was an altar server at his church, and in high school, has participated in CSC events such as the annual MLK Day of Service and a summer trip with classmates to do home-remodeling for needy people in an out-of-state community.
