hen Pippa Gunter moved her young family from London to Rutland, she was seeking a property to completely refurbish and found just the right house in Oakham. “The house was the perfect fit for my ideas; I love clean lines and open-plan spaces with a retro feel to the interior décor. This house was built in the 1970s and was crying out to be updated.” Architects Rayner Davies were commissioned to help Pippa formulate a plan to extend and reformat the entire lower storey of the house. The result is a stunning light and airy kitchen and dining area leading into a comfortable and contemporary family living room. “We really enjoy spending time in here watching movies, listening to music or just relaxing.” Three years in the making from planning to completion, the living space is beautifully finished and proves that a sleek, clutter free home is achievable – even for growing families.
