Introduction to Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship (PGTA) with SEND Specialism
The Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship offers a fee-free, salaried route into teaching. During the apprenticeship, student teachers will be employed by a school and receive a salary on the unqualified teacher pay scale (UNQ1).
Successful completion of this programme will award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship Qualification, which will qualify graduates to teach in all schools in England.
Student teachers choose from one of two curriculum stages, both full time.
• Early Years and Key Stage One (Curriculum stages 3-7 years). Student teachers will experience delivering an EYFS and Key Stage One curriculum across two schools.
• Key Stages One & Two (Curriculum stages 5-11 years). Student teachers will experience delivering a Key Stage One and Key Stage Two curriculum across two schools.

Funding routes
Apprenticeship Levy funding
If your setting contributes to the apprenticeship levy fund
Apprenticeship Levy paying employers can access their fund contributions through their Apprenticeship Service Account . You can use this service to manage the funds you have available for apprenticeship training in England.
Co-investment
If your setting does not contribute to the apprenticeship levy fund
You pay 5% towards the cost of the training for your apprentice. The remaining 95% will be paid by the government
Apprenticeship Levy transfer
Employers with unspent funds can transfer up to 25% of that contribution to another employer. That means you can benefit from the Apprenticeship Levy contributions of a different organisation to cover the full cost of an apprenticeship in your setting.
