Student teachers will complete their training in two schools. They will complete one placement within their chosen age range at their current/local school. The second will be a contrasting six-week placement in a different school during term two.
Our Level 6 teacher training programmes do not include a PGCE, as it’s not required to teach in English schools.
• School-based training, placing you in the classroom from day one

• Earn a salary on the unqualified teacher pay scale for the duration of training
• Train in school four days a week, with one day of online or in-person training
• Receive dedicated support from a personal tutor, mentor and our wellbeing team
• Once qualified, start on a salary of £31-£38k (dependent on location)
• Training costs are covered by the Apprenticeship Levy: no fees, no extra student loans
• Join a network of student teachers across the country
We envision our student teachers gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with us before going on to complete Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme to build a solid foundational understanding of best practice in pedagogy and teaching.
As teachers progress in their careers, they might choose to specialise in a specific area of teaching and complete one of our Specialist NPQs. Should they develop ambitions to join their school SLT or become a headteacher then we could support them with a Leadership NPQ.
This end-to-end career support for teachers is known as the “Golden Thread” and Best Practice Network is thrilled to be one of the first providers to be approved by the Department for Education to offer this broad suite of training in full.
