Become a coach in Education
The Coaching in Education Apprenticeship Level 5 offers staff in schools the opportunity to develop as confident, evidence-informed coaches – rooted in the realities of education.
Best Practice Network delivers this apprenticeship for colleagues working in schools, multi-academy trusts and other educational environments.
You’ll also achieve an ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring - at no cost to you.
What you will achieve
• A nationally recognised ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring
• Confidence to support colleagues’ wellbeing, resilience, and professional development
• Recognition as a skilled coach who drives positive change across education settings
What you will learn
Core coaching skills in context including:
• Active listening, powerful questioning and goal-setting
• Coaching frameworks such as GROW and CLEAR
• Building trust and professional boundaries in coaching relationships
• Reflective dialogue, structured feedback, and resilience-building
Your journey as an Education Coach
During this apprenticeship your supportive learning experience will include:
• Monthly online webinars to develop skills and confidence
• Monthly 1:1 sessions with a Tutor to guide your progress
• Termly reviews between you, your employer, and your Tutor
• Access to on-demand tools, resources and activities

How is it funded?
Up to 100% funded using the Apprenticeship Levy or maximum employer contribution of £250. No cost to the apprentice.
Eligibility
This apprenticeship is ideal for education professionals if you:
• Support colleagues’ practice in your role, formally or informally
• Lead teams, year groups or departments in schools or multi-academy trusts
• Want to use structured coaching to drive improvement and inclusion
• Live in England and have been here for the past 3 years
