The Good Samaritan Clinic (GSC) is a Christian ministry that provides primary health care to uninsured and underinsured people of all ages, races, and genders. I have provided two options for renovation; a rearrangement of the current furniture and wall color options, or a completely new design to follow a custom theme and concept. GSC will see new faces everyday, so a warm and welcoming environment will be conductive to a positive outcome from a healthcare experience.
With the donation from a benefactor, The Good Samaritan Clinic would be able to completely renovate their space and transform the interior to the clinic of their dreams. The logo of GSC is a heartbeat; so, I focused on curvilinear lines as a main theme seen throughout each space, as well as the color palette of blues, yellows, and neutrals.

NEW BUILD:
Using the concept "primrose," The Helton Cottage was designed using a color palette that gives a natural feeling to the home. A mixture of patterns was also used. This represents the wildflower, the primrose. Elements from the original cottage are used in the interior of the home. For example, the lattice work and columns seen on the front façade of the house.

This unique and charming 1927 shingled cottage has been renovated to suit a modern family. This once 3 bedroom 1 bath is now a 3 bedroom 2 ½ bath. The first floor has been updated to include a half bath and laundry room. The open kitchen leads to the dining room with access to the terrace. The second floor now includes a large bathroom in the master bedroom.
The exterior of the home is even more inviting than before with added sconces and window boxes.

In CTD 425 - Advanced Residential Design, students were assigned the drapery design project. Students researched the Historic American Building Survey to find and build window wall elevations. The next step was to design custom draperies for each window. I built the elevations in SketchUp, then drew the drapery designs using the Procreate app for iPad with an Apple pencil. I used a variety of colors and drapery styles studied during CTD 425.

BUILT IN 1836, THE FORT CONDE INN (HALL-FORD HOUSE) IS MOBILE’S SECOND OLDEST HOUSE AND ITS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR FINISHES REFLECT ITS ARCHITECTURAL VINTAGE FROM ORIGINAL HEART PINE FLOORING AND CUSTOM-MILLED STAIRWAYS, MOLDINGS, AND WINDOW AND DOOR TRIM TO MARBLE FIREPLACE MANTELS, PLASTER WALLS, 12 FOOT CEILINGS AND CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS.
For the Balsa Wood construction project, the assignment was to create a 3D object made from strips of Balsa Wood. I chose to build a miniature chair and footstool inspired by the "Cesca Chair" I have studied in interior design classes. I used symmetry, repeated pattern, and added color. I measured and cut the strips of wood with an X-ACTO knife. I then glued the pieces together and added detail to the base and edges with a black Sharpie marker.
