DVRT is a new approach to mitigate the compression and rotational forces applied to the brain from a fall or impact. Consistent with Bern’s values, this innovative system provides increased protection, comfort and style for all riders.
Bern partnered with Shield X Technologies out of Vancouver, Canada to incorporate SXT’s Rotational Impact System™ into certain Bern helmets. This technology, backed by 10 patents, mimics the impact-absorbing structures in woodpecker skulls and the friction-reducing properties of fish skin allowing the head to slide away from the point of impact while energy is diverted around the helmet.

The sunlight is significantly more intense in the mountains – and reflections, such as those caused by snow or icy surfaces, drastically increase this effect. The result: your eyes are exposed to significantly more solar UV-A and UV-B radiation than usual.
