Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes rose to popularity when he was 15 with the debut song “Life of the Party”. He used to be famous for his cover videos, posted in social media Vine in 2013. His good-looks and musical talent got much attention from the fans and later led her to a deal with a record label.

He was born Shawn Peter Raul Mendes to Karen and Manuel Mendes on August 8, 1998 in Toronto, Canada. With his sister, Aaliyah, Mendes spent his childhood in a suburb area of Toronto, Pickering. He attended Pine Ridge Secondary School but later left to go on tour and kept up with online courses until graduated in 2016. called Vine launched, received huge attention from young social media users, including Shawn Mendes.

Unexpectedly, his post of covering Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” gained thousands of likes. He then became a social media idol with his awesome singing ability. Mendes also taught himself to play guitar through YouTube. His cover of “Say Something” by A Great Big World brought him to win a contest in 2014 and signed to Island Records. Not long after that, his name is a big sensation.

Mendes’ first album, The Shawn Mendes EP released in 2014 and topped the charts. It also sold 100,000 copies and reached No. 5 on Billboard 200.

The hit single, “Life of the Party” was the No. 24 on Billboard 100, making him the youngest artist that landed the debut song in Top 25. His successful debut also followed with another achievements.

In 2015, Mendes launched his LP Handwritten with the single “Stitches” that became his biggest breakthrough. The album went to No. 1 in Canada and US. Meanwhile, “Stitches” landed in the Top 10 in North America and No. 1 in European music charts. His next singles, “Treat You Better”, “There’s Nothin’ Holdin’ Me Back”, and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” were all the chart toppers. Mendes made a record with MTV Unplugged and later launched a world tour in 2017.

“Lost in Japan” and “In My Blood”, two tracks from Mendes’ third album in 2018 topped the Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs chart, made him received a Best Pop Vocal Album nomination from Grammys. In May 2019, he came back with “If I Can’t Have You” and a global-chart-topper “Senorita” featuring Camila Cabello. The following year, Mendes released Wonder, his fourth long-player.
