2022 Bentley University Orientation Assistant (OA) Job Description The office of New Student Programs is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, positive students, with an attention to detail, who are looking to enhance their leadership skills by serving as role models, guides and mentors to the Orientation Leader teams, new students and families at Bentley University. All orientation staff will lead with the Bentley Core Values and be: • • • • • • •

Professional Globally minded Comfortable leading conversations, activities and ice breakers. A team player Excited to execute programming Flexible Inclusive and committed to the Department’s Racial Justice Action Plan

It will be the responsibility of the OAs to: • Support a group of both new and returning Orientation Leaders. • Serve in a support role to both the Central Staff and Student Coordinators. • Orientation Assistants will help manage the operational component of the programs. • Be prepared to assist in other duties as assigned and needed. Every OA plays an essential role in the onboarding process, the Orientation Program, as well as the experience of their team of Orientation Leaders. Successful candidates will participate in a robust training to develop and enhance skills and knowledge necessary to support the new students as well as mentor and guide their peer OLs.

Staff must be available at the following dates/times for training and program execution: 2022 Commitments February • Orientation Leader Group Process - February 11th & 18th from 3- 7:30pm April • Orientation Team Retreat - April 8th • Accepted Student’s Day - Date TBD • Orientation Team Working Meeting - April 29th May-August • Summer hours and collateral assignments • July Team Meeting - July 15th Training and Orientation Program • Please note, the Orientation Program is tentatively scheduled for September 15, 2022, based on the most recent version of the University calendar. *Providing a welcoming environment for all new and future falcons is important, and we may request your help at programs such as Admitted Students Day and Open House. More information regarding spring/summer hours, team trainings, and the Orientation Program will be discussed with the central staff team. Academic/Judicial Standing Requirement: Please be aware that in order to be hired for this position, you must be in good judicial standing with the University and, also, have a GPA of at least 2.5. Please note, that we may need to adjust the role, modality of the program, or needs given the current situation with the COVD19 pandemic
