SHRINE FOR THE UNBORN

Senior Studio V, Fall 2024

Ink and Watercolor on Watercolor Paper

This design proposal for a Shrine for the Unborn is set on the lower quad of Benedictine College. Taking into account the somberness of the shrine and the eccentric nature of a college campus, the large atrium serves as a transition space for people to enter into prayer. Drawing precident from Lutyens’ and Cret’s war memorials, this shrine provides a solemn space to commemorate the unborn.

ATCHISON TRAIN STATION

Junior Studio III, Spring 2023

Ink and Watercolor on Watercolor Paper

This proposal for a passenger train station in Atchison, Kansas, blends the city's historical context with Romanesque architectural elements inspired by City Hall, the Post Office, Windsor Station in Montreal, and St. Louis Union Station. The design features separate areas for arrival and departure, with passengers entering a large, light-filled waiting room on the first floor, overlooked by a second-floor gallery. Shops, ticketing areas, and leasable offices line the sides for convenience. A corridor with shops, offices, and a restaurant guides departing passengers, reinforcing the station as a welcoming gateway into the city.

VILLA FOSCARI

Venice, Italy

Junior Studio III, Fall 2023

Graphite on Paper

The aim of this project was to document a Palladian Villa as precedent for students’ own designs during the latter half of the semester. Students were to compose sheet layouts including two elevations, plan, site, front detail and title block. The goal was to come to greater knowledge of Palladian proportions while continuing to devolop compostion and design skills.
