Common Secondary Machining Processes In Plastics Manufacturing

The secondary machining technique is costeffective for producing workpieces made up of multiple procedures. During the machiningb process, a number of processes are carried out in a specific order to provide the best outcomes. Secondary machining operations come after primary production processes like CNC or injection moulding.

● Drilling

This secondary machining process, known as computer numerical control (CNC), uses a round cutter to drill holes in a workpiece. Although milling equipment can also be used, this operation uses specifically designed drill pressingmachines.

● Milling

A multi-point rotary cutter bends deep threads, gear teeth, or slots onto the workpiece during milling. A fining coat is applied to the workpiece during the injection moulding process thanks to milling, a secondary machining procedure.

The turning process can be carried out manually or automatically by rotating the workpiece while a cutting tool operates in a linear motion to create the final tube-shaped item. Using CNC enables greater production, consistency, and efficiency.

● Turning

Surface grinding machining processes are used when injection moulding calls for a tolerance surface polish. Thanks to the powered abrasive paste, wheel, or belt employed in this procedure, the workpiece has a fine-tolerance finish.

Grinding

Because an injection moulding process demands a tolerance surface finish, surface grinding machining processes are required. By utilising a powered abrasive paste, wheel, or belt, it delivers the workpiece a fine-tolerance finish.

Machining

Have you ever considered how grooves are made in bottles to allow for appropriate cap fit? Well, this is accomplished by tapping. It is the process that uses a conical thread or cylindrical cutting tool to help produce grooves on the inside surface of the drilled hole. Tapping can be easily programmed into a CNC lathe, resulting in a very efficient and straightforward threading procedure. This gives the artwork a final, conclusive aspect that will help the viewer understand its intended purpose.
