5K RUN SERIES
LIFEGUARD CLASS
On your mark, get ready, and sign up for our next 5K Fun Run – the Summer Soaker! Happening on Saturday, July 31, this family-friendly run is perfect for the Georgia summer heat, so prepare to get soaked! The race course will be lined with super soakers and end with a pool party at the Breezeway Complex. Spectators are encouraged to join, too! If you live along the route, bring out your garden hoses and your water guns to give the runners a refreshing way to cool down. Preregistration costs $15 for runners age 6 and up, and $10 for children 5 and under. The first 250 runners to pre-register are also guaranteed a T-shirt (shirt size is only guaranteed if you register by July 16). Day of registration prices increase by $5. When registering, you will be prompted to choose a timeslot (first-come, first-served). Each timeslot will hold 25 participants, and they run every three minutes. Visit benning. armymwr.com to sign up! After the race, join Outdoor Recreation as they host a pool party at the Breezeway Pool! This event will include live entertainment, drinks, games, and prizes. FITNESS CLASSES
Fitness classes are offered at the Smith Fitness Center and Audie Murphy Athletic Performance Center. There are a variety of classes to help you get in shape and stay in shape! The cost is $25 per month for unlimited classes or $3 per class. Visit our website or Facebook page, Ft Benning Fitness Classes, for this month’s schedule of classes.
We offer a 2-year lifeguard certification, which includes the American Red Cross Certification, lifeguarding, first aid, CPR and AED, for MWR patrons 15 and older. American Red Cross lifeguarding students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class, and pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking our course. Once students are enrolled, they’ll receive the latest science-based training from experienced instructors, and develop skills they’ll use for a lifetime. Call 706-545-1400 for more information.
