As a platform for collaboration and investment, the Summit will bring together leaders from UK Government, planning authorities, investors, production houses, international networks and tech innovators to explore opportunities and overcome challenges, to drive the screen sector’s next phase of growth.
A dynamic programme of expert speakers and high-impact discussions will tackle themes such as ‘Winning more production from nontraditional markets,’ ‘Homegrown and hired: Aligning skills with industry needs,’ and ‘What AI really means for the screen industry’ - sessions that will deliver actionable insights and help shape future strategies, investments and policy across the UK’s creative landscape.
Councillor Jeremy Newmark, Leader, Hertsmere Borough Council and Adrian Hawkins OBE, Chair, Hertfordshire Futures Growth Board, are guests on the panel titled ‘Shared vision, local delivery: How UK clusters can scale screen production’.
They will discuss how the UK’s nations, regions, and production clusters are responding to the global demand for screen content, and what’s needed to ensure the sector scales successfully and sustainably.
Councillor Newmark said:
“By harnessing the proven success of Hertfordshire’s creative corridor – where collaboration fuels blockbuster results – UK clusters can hit ‘record’ on a new era of world-class screen production that’s truly made local, scaled global.
“I’m looking forward to discussing these exciting opportunities for growth at the UK Screen Investment Summit.”
The Summit is the culmination of the first year of the UK Screen Investment Programme. The programme has been overseen by a Steering Group that has met over the last year in venues including Trowers & Hamlins’ global HQ in Moorgate, Sky Studios Elstree and The Londoner hotel to discuss issues impacting the industry.
The programme also hosted another flagship event in November - an investment dinner in partnership with Hertfordshire Growth Board, that has set the stage for the Summit.
Chaired by David Conway, Chief Executive, Pinewood Group, the Steering Group has included representatives from Action for Freelancers, Amazon, British Film Commission, Department for Business and Trade, Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, Elstree Studios, Sky Studios Elstree, Garden Studios, National Film and Television School (NFTS), RD Studios, Oxygen Studios, PACT, Screen Skills UK, Screen Alliance North, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.
Hertfordshire Futures is headline partner while Hertfordshire Growth Board is Associate Partner alongside McLaren. Trowers & Hamlins is a Supporting Partner, University of Hertfordshire is Event Partner and PACT is Media Partner.
