The role of the Studio Art Program is to provide a basis of support for the Benedict College Liberal Arts curriculum by offering a broad base of study in concepts and principles, historical perspectives, techniques and processes, understanding, and appreciation of the creation process. The mission of the Art Area makes a unique contribution to the broader mission of the College and academic community by addressing both the intellectual and aesthetic needs of its students, community, and state.
The Studio Art Program aims to provide students with broad educational experiences that will prepare them for career fields in art. Students selecting the Program of Study in Studio Art will be prepared for careers in fine arts. Students also have the option to select the Studio Art Program with a Concentration in Visual Communication. This program of study provides a sequence of graphic design courses that will enhance opportunities for careers in the design profession. Students in both Studio Art Programs will acquire knowledge and skills necessary for entrance into graduate school.

ART ALUMNI
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. Daughter of the Afro-Colombian composer and musician Hansel Camacho.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina in 2015.
In her works Belinda captures and expresses emotions that come from her ancestral and current cultural environment. The message in the emotions that Belinda wants to show to the public require a vast color palette and a palette knife technique. This approach on a large size canvas, gives Belinda the ability to relate with the viewer a much more intimate way.
Her work has been exhibited in collective exhibitions like” Beautiful Woman” or “Pinceles, Trazos, Rimaz y Versos” as well as mentions in specialized magazines like “Divine Voice Magazine” and “MobsNet”.
Belinda is currently working on commissions and is creating a collection for future exhibitions.
“Great changes can only happen when they come from your essence, you cannot and do not try to dominate what happens around you, but when you transform yourself and offer that sincere gift to the world, it changes before your eyes. Quiet your mind, connect with your being, accept and flow with life. We are one with power, presence and love.”
