Translating for Doctors

Helping with a Medical Mission Group! June 14-17, Kayla and I were able to help with a Medical Mission group that came to host two medical clinics for some missionary friends of ours. Our job was to translate between the patients and the doctors. During the first two days, the clinic was held in a remote village about an hour from Quito. The last two days of the clinic were held in a small city that was closer to Quito. Kayla and I really enjoyed helping in this endeavor. Not only did it help us to finetune our translating skills, but it also showed us how clinics like these operate, so that we can be prepared for the medical group that we will be hosting in August. Ministry Growth and Opportunities We are thanking the Lord that He has begun to add to His church in South Quito. Since the first of June, we now have two more faithful Ecuadorians attending our Sunday morning services. Plus, the Lord has directed an Ecuadorian lady and her three children to our church as well. Her name is Monica, and she is a new Christian who is going through some hard times in her family. Please keep her in your prayers, especially that we could disciple her and show her how the Lord can help her through whatever problem she might be having. We are also preparing to host a medical mission August 12-20. This group of about 25 doctors, nurses, and helpers will be assisting us by holding a fourday free clinic in our area of South Quito. The patients will get to see a doctor, they will be given free medication for their illness, and they will get to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. The team is set up through Medical Missions Outreach; their website is www.medical-outreach.com. Please pray for this endeavor, that the sick would be healed, that souls would be saved, and that Christians would be added to our local church. Some Setbacks On June 28, I passed out and had a seizure. This was not the first time this has happened; technically, I have had six seizures over a space of three years. After many tests and doctor’s visits, I have been diagnosed with the beginning stages of epilepsy. The doctor has put me on medication, and I have not had a seizure since. Please keep this matter in your prayers. On July 9, I discovered that our church building in South Quito had been broken into. The thieves entered through our ceiling and took a ladder and some plastic chairs. Thankfully, we do not keep any important equipment at our church building, so what they stole can be easily replaced. Please pray for us, that the Lord would continue to keep us safe as we work for Him in South Quito. Thanks once again for your continued prayers and financial support. May the Lord richly bless you.
