Teen Recommended Reads
World Environment Day
World Environment Day, observed on June 5th each year, is a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on pressing environmental issues.
Established by the United Nations in 1972, it encourages worldwide participation in activities that promote environmental protection.
Each year, a different country hosts the event, focusing on a specific theme such as plastic pollution, climate change, or biodiversity loss.
The 2025 theme, #BeatPlasticPollution, highlights the urgent need to address plastic waste and its impact on ecosystems.
The Republic of Korea, the host country for 2025, exemplifies leadership in environmental sustainability with its comprehensive plastic management strategies.
World Environment Day unites governments, businesses, and individuals to foster a collective effort towards a healthier, more sustainable planet for future generations.
Each month, Teen Recommended Reads explores a central theme or topic of discussion. Teens are encouraged to find an age-appropriate novel that shares this topic and discuss how this novel relates to the theme and general questions.
In recognition of World Environment Day for this month's Teen Recommended Reads.
Choose a book from this theme and let us know what you think.
