IHAB AHMAD CHILDHOOD MEMORIES - on view from September 29 until October 27LA CANTINE DU FAUBOURG Jumeirah Emirates Towers Dubai

Born in Beirut in 1983, Ihab Ahmad graduated in Visual Communication Art from the Lebanese University. He also took part in several workshops in silkscreen printing, painting, and drawing.

In 2016 he founded  "Beirut Art Studio,” a space dedicated to teaching art to children and adults.Ihab's work is diverse. In addition to acrylic and collage on canvas, he creates metal and wood sculptures with a contemporary flair.  Ihab developed a symbiotic relationship with his intriguing natural symbols such as fish, eyes, trees, and man-made symbols like patterns and geometric forms, all of which emerged as an intense and bright abstraction. This connection is entrenched in his determination to defy his childhood memories of war. His joyful art and affinity with color became a refuge and a powerful message of optimism. Every work has the potential to reveal the artist’s psyche and ultimately transcend it. The symbols elaborated on his canvas trigger the imagination of the viewer, a dialogue with the surreal, and an open-ended horizon of contemplation and decoding.

A word from Ihab

“Through my art, I imagine, I express, vokeevoke feelings. This exhibition talks about an imaginative version of my childhood memories that I didn’t live as a child who grew up during the Lebanese civil war. I'm bringing a cheerful, childish, colorful version I always wish to have. It's a dreamy world that doesn’t exist except in my imagination, and I invite the viewers to come to join this experience through my paintings. This world was translated in my art by utilizing different essential elements from nature, like a bird, flower, or fish, bringing them together harmoniously to make a magical moment, a moment of extreme happiness, peace, and joy.”

LA CANTINE DU FAUBOURG

Parisian Restaurant and Social

La Cantine du Faubourg opened its doors more than two decades ago, doing its “little turn on the catwalk” of Paris’ top fashion avenue, at n°105 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. What was previously a site for a bank quickly bloomed into one of the City of Lights’ most coveted addresses for a hip lunch, after-work drinks, dining & entertainment.

There are many reasons for our success.

First and foremost, la Cantine du Faubourg’s creators, Pierre Pirajean and Helena Paraboschi are artists and sculptors: “ La Cantine du Faubourg is more than a restaurant, it’s an artistic rendez-vous, a lifestylestatement. ”

The concept relies on five key principles: sound, music, image, art and food.

A hybrid gateway for celebrities & people from around the world, in search of their private playground & a multi-sensory experience.
