FROM THE ARCHIVES

Volume 69 Executive Staff Reviews Seventy Years of Panel History By Sreetej Digumarthi ’21, Abe Tolkoff ’21 and Charlie Wells ’21 Panel Staff Recently, school librarian and archivist Ms. Caroline Cushman finalized a project to digitize and preserve all issues of The Panel since its first publication on April 23rd, 1953. Now, nearly seventy years later, we hope to reflect on the school’s history through this storied student publication. Over the years, The Panel has grown and changed in its charter, funding, publishing schedule, and appearance. In this Archival Issue, we will present a handful of standout articles from each decade chronologically, beginning with the 1950s and continuing thorugh the 2010s. We have chosen articles for their historical significance to our school and nation as well as specific ties to aspects of Belmont Hill that today we feel are strikingly similar or distinctly different. We have necessarily omitted much of our school’s history in this process, and we encourage all members of the broader community to reach out to Ms. Cushman (cushman@belmonthill.org) to access more Panel history on your own.

Evolution of The Panel Header Since ’53
