john g. govan ’51

John G. Govan, of Plymouth and formerly of Duxbury, MA, died on September 8, 2014. He was 82. Born in Boston, Mr. Govan was the son of the late Gerald and Grace (Harrington) Govan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and earned his B.A. from Babson College. For many years, he owned and operated Duxbury Wine and Spirits in Halls Corner. After his retirement, he volunteered as a teacher of reading. Mr. Govan is survived by his wife, Larisa Osintseva, of Plymouth; his son Matthew Govan, of Portland, ME, and daughter Maria Swanson, of Abington, MA; his grandchildren, Grace Govan and Travis and Hugh Swanson; and his sisters, Judy Murtagh, of Chelmsford, MA, and Joan Govan, of Annville, PA.

edward e. brooks ’56

Edward E. (Ned) Brooks, of Waltham, MA, and formerly of Concord, died on February 24, 2015. He was 78. Born in Boston in 1936, Mr. Brooks was the son of the late Edwin D. Brooks, Jr. ’29 and Theodora E. (Lawrence) Brooks. He is survived by his brother, Hooper L. Brooks ’63, of New York, and a cherished friend, Ann Fletcher. He was also the brother of the late Frances D. Brooks.
