CELEBRATING 75 YEARS

OF FAITH, LEARNING, AND LEGACY AT BELLEVUE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

In 2025, Bellevue Christian School (BCS) marks an extraordinary milestone: 75 years of unwavering commitment to faith-based education, academic excellence, and Christcentered community. BCS was founded in 1950 by Joe and Al Greene, who envisioned a school rooted in biblical truth and academic rigor. BCS has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving institution that has shaped thousands of students, inspiring them to pursue lives of purpose and service.

From the first classes held in a church basement to the vibrant campuses now located in Medina, Clyde Hill, and Woodinville, the journey of BCS has been one of faith, perseverance, and God’s faithful provision. Over the decades, the school has remained steadfast in its mission: to prepare young people to live faithfully and fully for God in a rapidly changing world.

The 75th anniversary is more than just a celebration of longevity—it’s a celebration of legacy. It’s about the teachers who mentored generations of students, the alumni who went on to impact their communities around the world, and the families who partnered together to build something lasting. Through the decades, BCS has maintained a strong academic foundation while cultivating spiritual growth and a desire to be faithful to God’s Word.

One of the defining strengths of BCS is its integration of faith and learning. Here, students are not only encouraged to pursue

knowledge but to understand their place in God’s story. Whether in the science lab, the art studio, or on the athletic field, faith informs every subject and interaction. It’s this holistic approach that continues to set Bellevue Christian apart. BCS has not defined itself by what it is against, but by what it is for.

The impact of BCS extends well beyond its walls. Alumni have become teachers, pastors, engineers, artists, doctors, and community leaders. They carry with them the spiritual formation and values instilled during their time at BCS.

As BCS steps into the next 75 years, it does so with a deep sense of gratitude and bold faith. The world has changed dramatically since 1950, but the need for Christ-centered education remains as vital as ever. Looking ahead, Bellevue Christian School is committed to equipping students not just for college and career—but for life.

So, we celebrate—not just the past 75 years, but the promise of what’s to come. May the next generations of BCS students continue to shine as light in the world, grounded in truth, guided by grace, and fueled by a vision that began with faith.

Here’s to 75 years of excellence— and to a future filled with advancing our mission.

DANIEL STABBERT (’03)

NAVIGATES A LIFE OF IMPACT AT SEA

From kindergarten forts and lunchroom laughs to worldwide marine exploration, Daniel Stabbert’s journey started at BCS and sailed into a life of extraordinary adventure and purpose.

A 2003 graduate, Daniel attended BCS from preschool through high school. His family’s deep maritime roots played a significant role in his upbringing, and his father chose BCS not only for its Christ-centered education but also for the flexibility it offered. “We were constantly on the move with projects around the world,” Daniel recalls. “BCS supported that—sending homework on the road, encouraging real-world learning.”

Daniel’s memories at BCS range from fondly remembered nap cubbies to prank-calling 911 (an unforgettable life lesson, he laughs). But what left the deepest imprint was the way teachers challenged students to think critically and faithfully. “The toughest teachers—Mr. Jones, Mr. Seymour, Mr. Ulstein—weren’t just about content; they taught us how to build a worldview rooted in logic, faith, and integrity.”

A pivotal moment came in a long-lunch AutoCAD class led by beloved teacher Charlie Brown (Mr.B). There, Daniel designed his first ship— and unknowingly charted his future. “That class launched my love of vessel design. I’ve been designing ships ever since.”

Daniel now leads a global maritime solutions company focused on scientific research, humanitarian missions, and underwater robotics. His career has taken him to Antarctica, Singapore, Chile, the Philippines, and beyond. He’s supported disaster recovery for Hurricane Katrina, Puerto Rico’s power crisis, and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He’s worked with NASA and NOAA, helped clean the Pacific garbage patch, and even assisted in the search for Amelia Earhart’s plane.

But the project closest to his heart is “The Lost 52,” helping locate and honor WWII submarines and their crews. “Each discovery is sacred,” Daniel says. “We do a bell-ringing ceremony and 3D photogrammetry to preserve the site for future generations. It’s history. It’s closure.”

Looking back, Daniel credits BCS for shaping not only his academic foundation but his identity. “I didn’t fit the mold—but I was supported, challenged, and equipped to think independently and faithfully,” he says. “BCS taught me how to ask why—not just what.”

Now a father, Daniel reflects on BCS’s 75-year legacy with gratitude.

“It influenced three generations of my family. That kind of impact is rare—and it lasts.”

PERFORMING ARTS IN REVIEW:

A YEAR OF FLOURISHING AND FUN

The 2024–25 school year was remarkable for Performing Arts at Bellevue Christian School. Students excelled in Choir, Band, Jazz Band, and Drama, growing both in artistic talent and personal expression.

In Theatre, BCS formed a Thespian Troupe, competed in Regional and State Thespy’s, and celebrated senior Anna DeBord (Loyola University), who earned a National Qualifying Superior ranking. Our troupe also earned an Excellent for their one-act play, Gossip

The fall theater production of The Mousetrap showcased 15 students in cast and crew roles. The spring musical, Shrek, brought together over 40 participants, including elementary, junior high, and high school students, staff, and a live pit orchestra. All performances were sold out and received rave reviews.

This year also marked the debut of our powerful Drum Line, bringing fresh energy and rhythm to sporting events and concerts. We were equally thrilled by the return of the Viking Pep Band! Both groups elevated our school spirit and brought energy to every performance.
