Fall of 2022 Project: Located at 500 Laurel St Baton Rouge, LA 70801, the Mirabelle Marvelous Hotel celebrates various French cultures in Louisiana by blending traditional and contemporary French designs in its interior. Embracing materials like wood and leather, Mirabelle evokes the ambiance of the French countryside. European molding on the reception desk. Balancing tradition with modernity, the hotel incorporates simple furniture and lighting in its bar and lobby,
Spring of 2023: The project brief focused on examining the atmosphere, moods, and lighting within the LSU Art and Design Building's northwest stair. The project nvolved exploring ways to uncover or reveal elements within the space or volume. Initially, the project was started in collaboration with partners Mignon Antoine and Marguerite Eppling. Together, we analyzed the space through photographs and a study model. Our investigation revealed the dullness of the space and the negative impact of its gloomy lighting, which failed to attract users.
The second part of the project involved individual work, during which I re-envisioned the space while preserving its function. My aim was to transform the space into an inviting environment with a sense of coziness. To enhance its appeal, I proposed adding a physical nest to the top landing of the stairs, which would intrigue observers from the exterior. Additionally, I proposed installing new direct and indirect lighting to illuminate the space with a amber glow. This warm ambiance would contrast effectively with the bright and imposing structure of the LSU Tiger Stadium nearby. I utilized Revit to construct a 3D model and employed a laser cutter to fabricate the physical model, enabling me to explore and communicate my design concept effectively.

The undergraduate senior Thesis is a self-directed yearlong investigation. It begins with identifying a problem and proposing a solution in the fall semester, and concludes with testing the solution through a design project in the spring (Robinson and Parman 2010). The Thesis combines skills from the classroom and studio, which I have acquired over the past 4 years and it is structured to encourage critical thinking, develop deeper knowledge, solve challenging problems, and advance my design skills.
Research Question:
How can an LGBTQ+ designed shelter and community center positively affect LGBTQ+ homeless youth and the community?
Thesis Statement:
In the US, we have women’s shelters, men’s shelters, homeless shelters, and youth shelters. It is rare to find shelters that are specifically programmed for LGBTQ+ youth. The program will include a transitional closet, gender-neutral restrooms, and flex spaces. While women’s and men’s shelters have laws in place to prevent discrimination and are accessible for LGBTQ+ youth, they aren’t approachable. They appear intimidating to those part of the queer youth community. By understanding the needs of the growing LGBTQ+ homeless youth population, an LGBTQ+ youth community center can make it easier for youth to access help without the fear of discrimination or shame and can also provide positive development through color studies throughout the space. Through this nonprofit transitional housing and community center, LGBTQ+ youth will have a more inclusive and accepting community.
The dorm rooms aim to provide comfort and security. Grace Space offers three different dorm configurations: four rooms that accommodate eight users, four rooms that accommodate four users, and two rooms that accommodate one user and are ADA accessible. The pod-like beds offer the benefits of stress reduction. This space aims to accommodate a wide variety of people with different body types and identities.
Dining Room Perspective.
The Construction Documents course, completed during my third year of college, was focused on completing a retired NCIDQ Practicum. The first section focused on foundational elements such as progress work, floor finish plans, interior elevations, ADA and life safety plans, finish legends, and room finish schedules. The second section addressed electrical plans, reflected ceiling plans, switching plants, furniture specifications, and custom millwork and detailing. This project helped build my foundation of knowledge for understanding integrated building systems, detailed specifications for materials and products, and the importance of detailed work.
