Our Story
Across 25 years of creative collaboration, our design has always been in conversation with our own need to connect with too often neglected parts of ourselves. All our years, projects, and learnings have led us to this moment and this concept: the cabin as the ultimate expression of meeting our basic needs simply, while focusing the design on fostering a quality of being that is so hard to come by in the rest of our overstuffed lives. The kind of being that can’t be manufactured. Perhaps, we thought, it can be designed for. From the seed of this idea we grew Tieton Cabin Company, to give you a head start on a place to just be.

Why CLT?
Making a cabin that feels like a cabin yet is a distinctly modern version of that idea while being resource prudent is the fundamental design challenge upon which we built this entire enterprise. We concluded that cross laminated timber (CLT) is the ideal structural system for helping us achieve these three must haves—cabin like, modern, and resource prudent.
Our panels are a layup of three to five layers of spruce, pine, and fir two-by-sixes laminated together in a giant press by Mercer Mass Timber. This pre-cut four panel CLT set allows us to assemble an entire cabin structure in six hours with zero cutting and zero field waste in our factory. The pre-sanded interior panel faces immediately become our primary interior wall, floor, and ceiling finished surfaces.
The resulting solid wood surface allows for an uninterrupted insulating blanket of Rockwool to wrap the exterior of the CLT structure. We can really geek out on how awesome this assembly is from durability, weatherproofing, and energy performance perspectives, but we’re going to leave it there for now. Come see us if you want a deeper dive, we love showing it off!

Order + Delivery
Since we purchase materials specific for YOUR cabin, we require an initial deposit upon ordering and progress payments:
• To secure a production slot: 10% deposit
• Pre- production: 40% additional payment (due 30 days before production)
• Mid production: 40% additional payment (due 30 days before completion)
• Final Payment: 10% upon completion (due prior to shipment)
A $5,000 delivery allowance is included in the base price of each cabin. This allowance should cover the trucking costs to ship a cabin to most locations in Washington State. More remote locales will require us to work together to figure out additional costs and logistics.
We have designed our cabins with some key structural anchor points that easily connect to a crane or industry standard house moving dollies. Give us a call and we can walk you through it, and help you find resources in your area.

Site Considerations
Planning/Zoning Permit
Most communities have regulations governing things like setbacks from property lines, height limits, lot coverage, etc. We can help you find this information.
Building Permit
Tieton Cabins are built to IBC (International Building Code) Standards to meet or exceed most jurisdictions’ building code requirements.
Our CLT and steel structural system is designed to meet seismic requirements and is adaptable to meet most soil, topography, or snow load conditions.
Washington State building and energy code requirements are among the most stringent. Tieton Cabins are universally pre-approved for all WA code requirements - Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California and more are to follow.
Foundation
Site specific foundation engineering is not included in the cabin price, but likely in the range of $2,000—$5,000, depending on your site.
The cabins generally require a very simple and cost effective set of four site built concrete pad footings, each ~4’ x 4’ x 12”

We can’t see the sparkle in your eyes right now, but we bet it’s there.
That’s the magic of cabins—just by reading or hearing that simple word, something lights up in us. In cabins, we connect with our loved ones, with nature, and with ourselves. Cabins hold our most enchanted memories.
They give us the opportunity to leave behind the hustle of our daily life and slip into ease. They invite us to dream of adventures to come.
This kind of being can’t be manufactured, but it can be designed for. From the seed of this idea we grew Tieton Cabin Company, to give you a head start on a lifetime of connection and simple being, whatever that means for you.
