In other words: Baal is “a name of Satan”. No wonder the Bible clearly states that choosing Baal is choosing against YHWH. It is no surprise that we find in the Meccan pantheon a wide diversity of deities, idols an demonic entities that seem to revolve around star, moon and sun worship. As chief deities we read a lot of names that are supposedly chief among the deities. Named are for instance, Sin, Bel, El but also Allah. To name a few of these subservient deities:
Star gods: Astarte 47 Atarsamain48 Athtar49 Uzza50 Wadd51
Sun gods: Malakbel52 Nergal53 Nuha54 Shams, Samas55
Sky gods: Beelshamen56 Bel, Baal 57
Fertility gods: Atargatis58 Ishtar59
Moon gods:
Nanna+ “three muses”
Sign of Sin
Sin (also called Nanna) was the god of the Moon in Mesopotamian Mythology.60 Hubal 61 Wadd62 the “Minaean Moon God”. 63 Aglibol 64 Ruda.65 In the Qurān the Moon is being referred to by Ibrahim as “my Lord”.
