Urban Strategies for Empowerment of Informal Settlement city of Rasht, Iran

The title of the project was strategies for enabling and regularizing informal settlement of the city of Rasht. The project was started by studying the whole city of Rasht with the help of previous studies of master plan of RASHT and city research of the project team, the result of this project was the drawing of a map of the division of city poverty in accordance to assessment of previously defined criterion of different structural, environmental and etc… qualities. After that with the use of criterion defined for unofficial settlement defined by the employer of this project, The Ministry of housing and urbanization, the map of the divisions of these dwellings was obtained.

Although due to the large amount of factors and criterion the processing of the data and the drawing of maps with the AHP and GIS software, four districts out of the districts with the highest points, meaning those with the most problems and difficulties were chosen so that the project consulters and the planning group could prepare a plan for them. Also in this project the planning group apart from attaining the opinions and participation of the locals held interviews with all of the government organizations and offices who in any way played a role in the kind and quality of dwelling of the locals.

This project consists of the revitalization and renovation of the texture of one of the old districts of Tehran in Iran which suffered from severe (Skeletal) structural attrition and was also located on an earth quake fault. In this project the consulting company had opened a local office and by holding discussions with some of the guiding council as the main people’s symbol, has attempted to create a feeling of trust in the districts addicts and other people.
