Thank you for all of the wonderful work you do for us!

Dear Shahla,

A big congratulations on your well-deserved promotion to Full Professor! Words cannot adequately express what a positive impact you’ve had, and continue having, on the field of behavior analysis and everyone who’s had the honor of knowing and learning from you. You continue paving the way so that future generations can make meaningful contributions to the field. Your dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence is an inspiration to us all. With gratitude and admiration, Claire Anderson

Dearest Shahla, We cannot fully express our gratitude for you in any number of words, but we do and will continue to strive to do so in our actions throughout our lives, including our careers. Careers that would not be possible without your guidance and inspiration. You are the giant on whose shoulders so many of us are fortunate to stand. We are beyond grateful for your guidance, kindness, and friendship all of these years, and we look forward to many more! Thank you for brightening our lives.

All of our love, Sara, Joe, & Myles

Dearest Shahla,

I wish you the biggest most heartfelt congratulations that I can muster. I can not think of anyone more deserving. I am one of the proud behavior analysts lucky enough to learn from you and beside you. I am forever grateful and know that your past, present, and future students will feel the same. You taught me to lead with my heart and honestly,

what could be more important? I am honored to be your forever student, grateful to call you a forever friend. With love, Megan (Geving) Sprague

Shahla, You are thoughtful, passionate, loving, and an incredible mentor. I am incredibly thankful and feel so grateful for our time together. Thank you for sharing and showing your wisdom. I often think of the saying you shared with me and it is even on my office “To watch us dance, is to hear our hearts speak”. Thank you.

Forever grateful, Sam Cermak

CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is such a well-deserved accomplishment. You are the most inspiring, intelligent, and compassionate mentor and advisor. I feel so honored to have had the opportunity to learn from you and continue to learn from you throughout the years.

In the corner of this photo of us (sorry it is so blurrybut I love the smiles on our faces), is the item I contributed. It includes a turquoise and coral stone as well as a feather. I wanted to share the meaning of those stones and the feather which made me think of you. Turquoise is associated with luck and abundance, can ward off negative energy and bring good fortune. Turquoise is also a symbol of friendship and unity. Coral is the stone of peace, harmony, and transformation. A feather is often thought to symbolize peace, freedom, and hope. Congratulations again! With love, Julia Ferguson

Shahla, Congratulations on this momentous occasion! I am so honored to have been a part of your tenure at UNT. When researching different graduate programs, I was particularly drawn to your warmth and dedication to the field. As scientists we can be perceived as cold, impersonal, and overly-obsessed with data. Up until my time under your direction, my experience had led me in that direction. It was through your guidance that I learned that compassion, faith, and love do not make a person weak or less of a clinician. They often make us better. I learned that we can see growth and progress in ways that are not always quantifiable and those are just as important. I am so proud of all the gifts you have given me but I am most proud of that. It is your unwavering dedication and genuine kindness towards all you interact with that sets you apart. I chose this piece because it represents those characteristics for me. I am truly a better person having met you.
Congratulations, Shahla.
