SATURDAY,
The Henley Masters Regatta Committee is delighted to welcome you to the 31st Henley Masters Regatta.
First held in 1994, the regatta was founded by Harry Harvey of Derby Rowing Club and Stuart Wilson of Upper Thames Rowing Club. It has taken place every year since, with the sole exception of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This regatta offers masters rowers and scullers a unique opportunity to compete side by side along the world-famous Henley course. It combines high-quality racing with a friendly and welcoming bankside atmosphere for competitors, supporters, and spectators alike.
The 2025 regatta has once again been oversubscribed. We are also pleased to announce that, at short notice, an extra half day of racing has been added on Sunday to accommodate additional mixed Masters eights and quad scull events.
As a result, this year’s regatta will see a record 1,413 competitors racing across the three days. These athletes will form 438 crews from 172 clubs, competing in 81 separate eve ts. Our oldest competitors this year are in the Masters J category (80–84 years).
We are especially proud to welcome a strong i ter atio al co ti ge t, with competitors from 14 countries , including Italy, Germany, Ireland, USA, Australia, Hungary, Serbia, New Zealand, Switzerland, France, Austria, The Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Crews will race in the full range of Masters age categories, from Masters B (36–42 years) to Masters J (80–84 years). Many crews feature a blend of athletes who discovered rowing later in life alongside highly experienced rowers and scullers—including former Olympians and internationals.
Racing takes place over a 1,000-metre course, beginning just above Temple Island and finishing at Upper Thames Rowing Club. Races will run approximately every 4 minutes:
•Friday: 9am to 6pm
•Saturday: 8am to 6pm
•Sunday: 9am to 1pm
Crews will compete in heats, progressing through to finals held on Saturday and Sunday. As in previous years, racing will be available via pay-to-view livestream, and the programme is also available to view online.
This event is entirely volunteer-run, and we are deeply grateful to the many individuals who give their time, skills, and enthusiasm to ensure the regatta's success. Over 100 volunteers will support the event over the three days, in addition to the efforts of the organising committee and other key contributors. A heartfelt THAnK YOU to you all.
We also extend sincere thanks to our sponsors, exhibitors, and programme advertisers, whose generous support is invaluable. Please take time to visit their stands and explore the programme. We wish you a pleasant, enjoyable, and successful Henley Masters Regatta 2025.

The Regatta is affiliated to British Rowing and held under British Rowing Rules or Racing, with the addition of the following local rules.
1.All competitors must comply with British Rowing’s Row Safe guidelines.
2.The order of events will be strictly adhered to for Heats, Semi-Finals and Finals. Heats and Quarter Finals and about 50% of Semi-Finals will normally take place on Friday with the other Semi-Finals and Finals scheduled for Saturday.
3.Competitors wishing to double up at the Regatta are requested to make their doubling-up entry on the “Waitlist”. Entries will be selected from the waitlist on the basis of creating meaningful competition across the board. Entries containing "placeholders" for later substitution will not be permitted.
4.When the number of entries for the Regatta exceeds that which can be accommodated, the Organising Committee may suspend further entries from being made. Until the start of the Regatta the Organising Committee may accept further entries from the waiting list.
5.Where an event has received only 1 entry, the crew concerned will be offered the following options: (i) to change to an alternative event, (ii) to move to an adjacent event if there is one with 2 entries or more (if your crew is younger than 75 years, you will not be given a handicap, if your crew is older than 75 years, you will be given the option of a handicap - handicaps will be calculated on the basis of the actual age difference between the crews rather than the banded age difference.) (iii) to receive a full refund.
6.Crews who withdraw their entry once a List of Crews is published shall forfeit their entry fee.
7.The Environment Agency (EA) requires all boats, including those from overseas, to clearly display their EA identification number on the sides of the boat.
8.Crews must proceed to the Start and leave the course after racing in accordance with the Regatta Circulation Pattern. Crews crossing the course must not impede races in progress.
9.Crews must paddle light in the zone between the bottom of Temple Island and just downstream of the cross-over points.
10.The first named crew in each race will take the Berkshire station (towpath side).
11.Crews must be attached to the stake boats 2 minutes before the time of their race.
12.No practising will be allowed on the course from 30 minutes before the first race. No practise starts will be allowed on the course during the Regatta.
13.Winners medals will be presented at the Presentation Rafts as crews return from the finish of their final race.
14.The decision of the Organising Committee on any aspect of the operation of the Regatta will be final.
