What will I study?

This study programme combines both theory and practical sessions to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of a range of outdoor education occupations. It will also provide you with the opportunity to develop skills and experiences that will help you to pursue a career as an outdoor instructor but also open routes into the uniformed public services, and is ideal if you wish to join the armed forces, emergency services or paramedical services.

This course is ideal if you wish to build upon your knowledge to develop a career in the exciting and developing outdoor industry. It provides you with the detailed knowledge and practical skills you need for a successful career in the outdoor adventure industry. You will also study a wide range of units associated with coaching, leadership and skills development.

What do I need to start?

• 4 GCSEs grades A*-C or 9-4 ideally including English and maths

Duration: 1 year • 3 GCSEs grades A*-D or 9-3 ideally including English and maths OR • Sport/Public Services NCFE Level 1 Diploma What qualifications will I gain? • NCFE in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) Level 2 AND • English and maths qualifications if required Your future opportunities You can progress on to the Outdoor Adventure Level 3 study programme, or move into employment within the outdoor adventure sector.

What do I need to start? Duration: 1 year

OR • Sport Level 2 Diploma with Functional Skills with a keen interest in outdoor pursuits What qualifications will I gain? • Sport (Outdoor Adventure) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma AND • National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications • Emergency First Aid at Work QNUK Level 2 Award • English and maths skills UCAS points available Up to 168 for the Extended Diploma. Your future opportunities Being equivalent to three A-Levels, this qualification is recognised by universities, so you can go on to study subjects such as sports management, outdoor adventure, outdoor education, teaching, leisure and tourism and public services.
