Dear business partner,

We have seen an increased market growth over the past period which is something the interior industry has definitely taken advantage of. Consumers are again investing in their home, want to learn more about interior and seek inspiration on- and offline.

We, at Bedding House B.V., work passionately on collections, photos, books and other material each day in order to create that ‘wow feeling’ and surprise consumers with designs that fit their style and way of life to a tee, time and time again. As there are a thousand and one living style preferences, our design team’s portfolio is quite extensive. For years now, true nature lovers have been able to acquire the latest Marjolein Bastin collections from us. If consumers are looking for something more contemporary and romantic, Ariadne at Home would be the perfect brand for them.

Where the Beddinghouse collections are concerned, we focussed on these consumers by introducing seven new stories that would appeal to those who are eager to bring the latest trends in the fields of fashion and interior into their bedrooms. The surprising KAAT Amsterdam accessories, that also look great in the living room, complete the desired bedroom atmosphere.

This season we will introduce a new look for our Beddinghouse fitted sheet package. We take pride in the fact that the beautiful quality of our fitted sheet products is now also illustrated in the stylish and very informative packaging. We have ensured

that the USPs of the products are visible from all sides. This will make it easier for consumers to choose and strengthens the feeling that they are, indeed, opting for A-brand fitted sheets. Let our Account Managers provide you with more information.

Another novelty this season is the identity of the former brand Kardol & Verstraten. The brand will continue under the name Kardol this autumn.

The new pay-off: ‘Kardol inspires’ puts emphasis on the fact that the designs are inspired by the latest developments on the catwalk and in architecture and art. Each design comes with a mini moodboard to be included in the packaging. In this way the inspiration for the designs becomes very transparent for consumers.

We encourage you to continue to commit to the experience in your shop in these turbulent times.

Based on our figures we are aware that the presentation of bedlinen substantially contributes to the sale of beds and related items. Bedding House B.V. will do their utmost to support you in this by providing POS materials and visual merchandising, among other things. After all, the consumer wishes to be inspired and tempted in an attractive shop with expert staff. This requires a deepening of your knowledge and inspiration levels and a lot of creative effort.

De afgelopen periode zien we een toenemende groei van de markt. Ook de interieurbranche profiteert hier volop van mee. De consument investeert weer in de eigen woning en wil zich verdiepen in interieur en zich laten inspireren on- en offline.

USP’s van de producten vanaf alle zijdes te zien zijn. Dit vergemakkelijkt het keuzeproces voor de consument en versterkt het gevoel dat de consument een keuze maakt voor een A-merk hoeslakens. Laat onze accountmanagers u verder informeren.

Bij Bedding House B.V. werken we iedere dag gepassioneerd aan collecties, foto’s, boeken en ander materiaal om bij de consument dat ‘wauw-gevoel’ op te roepen en de consument elke keer weer te verrassen met een dessin wat helemaal passend is bij hun stijl en leven. Omdat er duizend-en-één woonwensen zijn, ontwerpt ons designteam zeer breed. Zo kan een echte natuurliefhebber al jaren bij ons terecht voor de nieuwste collecties van Marjolein Bastin. Of is een consument juist op zoek naar een eigentijds romantisch beeld, dan is Ariadne at Home het perfecte merk.

Nieuw dit seizoen is ook de identiteit van het voormalige merk Kardol & Verstraten. Het merk gaat vanaf dit najaar verder onder de naam Kardol. De nieuwe pay-off: ‘Kardol inspires’ benadrukt dat de inspiratie voor de dessins voortvloeit uit de laatste ontwikkelingen op de catwalk, architectuur en kunst. Rush Hour English With a satisfied sigh I close my laptop and look at my watch. Quarter past seven, I made the deadline! Time to relax and to celebrate the weekend. I collect all my gear, rush down the marble office stairs, through the revolving door and onto the street. I sniff the city’s energy and thoroughly enjoy the hustle and bustle that surrounds me. It’s dark already and the sky is a beautiful grey blue. Cars and taxis rush from one traffic light to another and couriers with parcels and meal deliveries skilfully manoeuvre between them.

There is one vacant seat left in the tube and it’s mine! As I sit down I’m already looking forward to my regular route once I’m back above ground.

First a stop at the Asian Food Court for some spring rolls, sushi and noodle soup. Then the wine bar for a bottle of Sauvignon. Last but not least, collect a stack of magazines from my favourite news stand.

Once home, I kick off my high heels and make myself comfortable in the wide windowsill that is filled with cushions and overlooks the city. Far below me I see the flickering lights of cars and hear the subdued honking of horns. Up here it’s delightfully restful. While enjoying the silence I cast my eyes over the minimalist furniture, the graphic prints on the wall and the modern kitchen. After a great-tasting meal I withdraw to my bedroom, my sanctuary, the only place where I can truly relax.

Nederlands Met een zucht van voldoening klap ik mijn laptop dicht en kijk op mijn horloge. Kwart over zeven, deadline gehaald! Tijd om te relaxen en het weekend te vieren. Ik pak mijn spullen in, haast me de marmeren trappen van ons kantoor af, ga de draaideur door en sta op straat. Ik snuif de energie van de stad op en geniet van de drukte om me heen. Het is al donker, de lucht is grijsblauw. Auto’s en taxi’s haasten zich van stoplicht naar stoplicht; koeriers met pakjes en bezorgmaaltijden slalommen er behendig tussendoor.

In de overvolle metro kan ik nog net een plekje bemachtigen. Ik plof neer en verheug me op mijn vaste route als ik straks weer bovengronds ben. Eerst langs de Asian Food Court voor springrolls, sushi en noodle soep. Daarna een fles Sauvignon oppikken bij de wijnbar. En als laatste een stapel tijdschriften uitzoeken bij mijn favoriete straatkiosk.

Als ik thuiskom, schop mijn high heels uit en nestel me in de brede vensterbank met kussens die uitkijkt over de stad. Ver beneden me glinsteren de lichtjes van auto’s en klinkt gedempt getoeter van claxons. Hier boven is het heerlijk rustig. Ik geniet van de stilte en laat mijn ogen glijden over de minimalistische meubels, de grafische prints aan de muur en de strakke keuken. Na een heerlijke maaltijd trek ik me terug in de slaapkamer, mijn heiligdom. De plek waar ik helemaal tot rust kom.

Stockholm Feeling English After the normal morning rush hour in our home I wave my youngest child goodbye. There she goes, with hat, scarf and school bag on the back of her bike. I look at the clock, quarter past eight. Now that they have all gone, I have some time to relax before my friend will be at the door.

An entire weekend in Stockholm, without kids - wonderful! The sun shows its face as I walk down the corridor to the lounge, and shines its beautiful light through the large windows and onto the herringbone parquet floor and pastel-coloured corner sofa.

After my shower I put on my favourite jeans and an anthracite coloured cashmere cardigan which, combined with my plimsolls and leather coat, make for a perfect city trip outfit.

A city trip which is an annual tradition that I share with my very best friend. I look forward to visiting all types of interior design shops with her without having to watch over children. In addition to relaxing, the purpose of this trip to Stockholm is to buy a new lamp for over the dining room table. As I sip my coffee and dream of all the things I would like to buy when in Stockholm, the doorbells rings. Let the city trip begin! After a short flight we arrive at our hotel in the historic city centre just as the sun begins to peep through the clouds. We admire the beautiful marble floor and roaring open fire in the lobby before we go to our room, dump our suitcases on the snugly made beds and head into town.

Nederlands Na de ochtendspits in huis zwaai ik mijn jongste uit. Muts op, sjaal om, schooltas achterop: daar gaat ze. Ik werp een blik op de klok. Kwart over acht. Iedereen is de deur uit, ik kan nog even relaxen voordat mijn vriendin voor de deur staat.

Een heel weekend zonder kinderen naar Stockholm – heerlijk. Als ik terugloop van de gang naar de woonkamer, komt net de zon tevoorschijn en maakt via de grote ramen een mooie lichtval op het visgraat parket en de pastelkleurige bank in de hoek.

Na het douchen trek ik mijn favoriete jeans en een antracietkleurig kasjmier vest aan, samen met mijn sneakers en leren jasje is dit de perfecte outfit voor een citytrip.

Een citytrip met mijn beste vriendin is een traditie die wij elke jaar trouw nakomen.

Eindeloos langs alle interieurwinkels struinen zonder op de kinderen te hoeven letten. Het doel voor deze trip naar Stockholm is, naast relaxen, het kopen van een nieuwe lamp voor boven de eettafel. Terwijl ik nippend aan mijn koffie wegdroom over wat ik allemaal wil kopen in Stockholm, gaat de bel. De citytrip kan beginnen! Als we na een korte vlucht aankomen in ons hotel midden het historisch centrum van de stad, komt net de zon tussen de wolken tevoorschijn. In de lobby zien we een mooie marmeren vloer en een brandende openhaard.

We gooien onze koffers op de strak opgemaakte bedden en trekken de stad in.

Cut & Paste English I took more than five hundred photographs during the fashion show and have a good look at them on my phone while waiting for a taxi to take me to the airport. The loud hiphop music still rings in my ears as I enlarge the images and study the colour combinations and fabrics.

Bright red, yellow, green and blue seem to be the dominating colours. The clothes all have angular patterns. Artfully draped kimonos alternating with tight wraparound skirts and fluttering maxidresses. Everything is breathtakingly beautiful, colourful and refreshing. I can’t wait to get home and park myself behind my computer.

I saw the same colour palette in the gallery and vintage shops I visited yesterday. During the taxi ride I think of how to translate all this into interior design. So I grab my art journal, read up on my notes and view the postcards I’ve bought.

As we drive through the city’s outskirts, I make some sketches of furniture and floor layout plans.

On Wednesday night I unpacked my travel bag in a boutique hotel in the centre of town. This was followed by three inspiration filled days.

Looking at art, photographing street fashion, doing the rounds of new shopping concepts and hotels, visiting trendy restaurants and, of course, this afternoon’s fashion show to top it all. Once I get home the only thing I want to do is relax in bed. And then, bubbling with energy, to further define all my new ideas in an exciting interior collection.

Nederlands Meer dan vijfhonderd foto’s heb ik gemaakt tijdens de modeshow. Wachtend op de taxi die me naar het vliegveld brengt, bekijk ik ze op mijn telefoon. De harde hiphopmuziek galmt nog na in mijn oren terwijl ik beelden groter trek en de kleurencombinaties en stoffen bestudeer. Helder rood, geel, groen en blauw voeren de boventoon.

De kleding zelf heeft hoekige patronen. Kunstig gedrapeerde kimono’s, strakke wikkelrokken en wapperende maxi-jurken wisselen elkaar af. Alles is adembenemend mooi, kleurrijk en fris. Ik kan niet wachten tot ik weer thuis ben en achter mijn computer zit.

De galerie en de vintage winkels die ik gisteren bezocht, lieten ook al zo’n kleurig beeld zien.

Tijdens de taxirit mijmer ik over de vertaalslag naar interieur. Ik pak mijn art journal, lees mijn aantekeningen na en bekijk de ansichtkaarten die ik kocht. Terwijl we door de buitenwijken van de stad rijden, maak ik wat schetsjes van meubels en plattegronden.

Woensdagavond pakte ik mijn reistas uit in een boutique hotel midden in het centrum. Daarna volgden drie dagen bomvol inspiratie. Kunst kijken, straatmode fotograferen, nieuwe winkelconcepten en hotels aflopen, trendy restaurants bezoeken en als zinderende finale de modeshow van vanmiddag. Als ik straks thuiskom, wil ik nog maar één ding: relaxen in bed. Om daarna stuiterend van energie alle nieuwe ideeën uit te werken tot een spannende interieurcollectie.

House Warming ‘As I take a moment to fully absorb this wonderful home. Lauren comes charging at me to greet me with a warm and welcoming hug.’

House Warming English The following calendar item appears in the screen of my phone: ‘’House Warming Tim and Lauren’’. In the past three months, after their wedding, my best friends turned their apartment into a true palace. The photos that Lauren has sent me, show an interior that is a mix of minimalistic and retro design. I go to the kitchen and place the ochre yellow hanging lamp I bought them on the table. The shop where I found this lamp also sold gift boxes that were ideal in colour and size. I bought a blue green one that was perfect for the lamp.

Then, at a quarter to nine, I go to the storeroom to collect my bike. I place the packed lamp into my bike basket and head towards the house warming party. When I arrive at the house of Tim and Lauren, the living room is already filled with friends, family and acquaintances. The centre of the living room features an imposing staircase. The high wall next to it is painted in the same blue green as my gift box. On the other side of the living room I see an open fire place surrounded by brightly coloured wallpaper with a floral motif. As I take a moment to fully absorb this wonderful home Lauren comes charging at me to greet me with a warm and welcoming hug. She unpacks my gift with great enthusiasm: ‘’YES! I know the perfect place for that lamp!’ she says.

When I wake up the following day, I see that Lauren has sent me a photograph of Tim hanging up the lamp. This is Tim and Lauren all over.

With a content smile on my face I decide to linger in my warm bed a little longer.

Nederlands Op het scherm van mijn telefoon zie ik een agenda item verschijnen ‘’House Warming Tim en Lauren’’. Na hun trouwen hebben mijn beste vrienden hun appartement de afgelopen drie maanden omgetoverd tot een waar paleis.

Op de foto’s die Lauren mij doorstuurde zag ik dat hun interieur een mix is van design, minimalistisch en retro. Ik loop naar de keuken en zet de oker gele hanglamp die ik voor hen gekocht heb op tafel. In de winkel waar ik deze lamp heb gevonden verkochten zij de ideale bijpassende cadeauverpakkingen. Ik pak de lamp in, in een groenblauw kleurige box.

Rond kwart voor negen loop ik naar de berging en pak ik mijn fiets. De ingepakte lamp zet ik in mijn fietsmand en ga op weg naar de House Warming. Als ik aankom bij het huis van Tim en Lauren staat de woonkamer al vol vrienden, familie en kennissen. Midden in de woonkamer staat een imposante trap. De hoge muur naast de trap is geschilderd in dezelfde groenblauwe kleur als mijn cadeaubox. Aan de andere kant van de woonkamer staat de openhaard met daarachter een felgekleurd behang met bloemetjesmotief. Ik neem een moment om het prachtige huis in mij op te nemen als Lauren op mij af komt stormen en mij begroet met een dikke knuffel. Enthousiast pakt Lauren mijn cadeau uit: ‘YES! Voor die lamp weet ik de perfecte plek!’ zegt ze.

Als ik de volgende dag wakker word, zie ik dat Lauren een foto heeft doorgestuurd van Tim die de lamp ophangt. Tim en Lauren ten voeten uit.

Met een lach om mijn gezicht en een tevreden gevoel draai ik mij nog even om in mijn warme bed.

First Impression English It’s Friday afternoon after a busy week filled with deadlines. Time to start the weekend! On my way home I think about what awaits me this evening. A blind date, set up by my very best friends. I don’t normally do this kind of thing, but Mark, my best friend, is convinced that we would make a perfect match. Before going home I pay a visit to the confectionery shop to buy some bonbons where the lady behind the counter carefully places them in a box. It should help to make a great first impression.

When I get home and walk into my apartment, I gaze at the city through the high windows.

The metal beams, the steel staircase and blue panelling of my apartment perfectly match the city’s business-like appearance. Then up the steel staircase to get to my bedroom. To the side there’s a narrow corridor providing access to a couple of wall units. Without giving it too much thought I put on my favourite subtly checked blue suit with a white shirt underneath, brandy-coloured belt and shoes - and I’m ready to go.

So I head out with a dark blue box of bonbons in my hand.

Nederlands Het is vrijdagmiddag en ik heb een drukke week vol deadlines achter de rug. Ik besluit het weekend in te luiden. Onderweg naar huis denk ik aan wat mij vanavond te wachten staat. Een blinddate geregeld door mijn beste vrienden.

Niet iets wat ik normaal gesproken doe, maar mijn beste vriend Mark was er van overtuigd dat wij echt bij elkaar passen. Voordat ik naar huis ga, rijd ik langs de chocolaterie voor een doosje bonbons. De dame achter de toonbank pakt de bonbons netjes in. Dit zal vast helpen om een goede indruk te maken.

Als ik daarna binnenstap in mijn appartement kijk ik door de hoge ramen uit over de stad. De metalen balken in mijn appartement, de stalen trap en de blauwe lambrisering passen perfect bij de zakelijke uitstraling van de stad. Via de stalen trap loop ik naar mijn slaapkamer. Aan de zijkant van de slaapkamer ga ik de smalle gang in naar mijn kastenwand. Zonder al te veel na te denken pak ik mijn favoriete blauwe pak uit de kast met een subtiele ruit. Een schoon wit overhemd eronder, cognac riem en schoenen – ik ben klaar om te gaan. Met het donkerblauwe doosje bonbons in de hand loop ik de deur uit.

Magical Moment English After a long wander through the snow bedecked forest we walk up the drive to our house. We’re in a cheerful mood and busily consult with each other on that evening’s task division. While some sturdy men chop wood, the kitchen team will focus on preparing a fantastic New Year’s Eve dinner that includes large jugs with pomegranate punch, dishes filled with tasty snacks, pasta with lobster and a huge tower of cream puffs.

We set the long table with a festive goldcoloured dinner service and crystal glasses and then decorate the dining room with goldcoloured balloons, branches from the garden and dozens of flickering tea lights.

Here, in this big house and together with our friends, we have celebrated an end-of-year tradition, that we wouldn’t have missed for any amount of money, for about ten years.

The extensive cooking session is interrupted with games at the open fire and discussions that go on into the late evening hours.

Just before twelve we go outside and warm ourselves in front of the fire in the fire basket.

The flames spread an orange glow and cast a fairy-tale light on the snow covered trees.

Wrapped in warm travel rugs we stand around the fire in our cocktail dresses and dinner jackets counting down the seconds till midnight.

Champagne bottles are uncorked, we hug each other, reminisce and make plans for the new year.

With a smile on my face I crawl into bed at about three thirty. Happy with the year that’s behind me, filled with expectation for what is to come and grateful for my group of close friends and this New Year’s Eve tradition.

Nederlands Na een lange wandeling door het besneeuwde bos lopen we de oprijlaan van ons huis weer op. De stemming is uitgelaten, er wordt druk overlegd over de taakverdeling voor vanavond. Terwijl een paar stoere mannen hout gaan pakken, stort de keukenploeg zich op de voorbereidingen voor een spetterend New Year’s Eve diner. Er worden grote kannen met granaatappelpunch gemaakt, schalen vol lekkere hapjes, pasta met kreeft en een enorme toren van slagroomsoesjes.

Ondertussen dekken wij een lange tafel met feestelijk gouden servies en kristallen glazen.

We versieren de eetkamer met goudkleurige ballonnen, takken uit de tuin en tientallen twinkelende waxinelichtjes.

Al een jaar of tien vieren we met onze vriendengroep, in dit grote huis, een eindejaarstraditie die we voor geen goud willen missen.

De uitgebreide kooksessie wordt afgewisseld met spelletjes bij de open haard en gesprekken tot diep in de nacht.

Even voor twaalf gaan we naar buiten en warmen ons aan het vuur uit de vuurkorf.

De vlammen zorgen voor een oranje gloed en lichten de besneeuwde bomen sprookjesachtig op. Met warme plaids om staan we in cocktailjurkjes en smoking rond het vuur en tellen we de seconden tot het nieuwe jaar af. Flessen champagne worden ontkurkt, we omhelzen elkaar, halen herinneringen op en maken plannen voor het nieuwe jaar.

Met een glimlach om m’n lippen kruip ik rond half vier ’s nachts mijn bed in. Gelukkig met het jaar dat achter me ligt, vol verwachting over wat komen gaat en dankbaar voor mijn hechte vriendengroep en deze Oud & Nieuw-traditie.

Misty Morning English After a long drive through an enchanting mountain landscape we finally turn into the drive of the stately home where our host has prepared a warm welcome for us. Inside, suspended from the ceiling, are large chandeliers and there’s a roaring open fire in the corner.

When I wake up the following morning and open the curtains of this beautiful estate house where we’ve spent the night, I see a mist covered landscape. Pulling the comfy travelling rug around me I make myself comfortable on the windowsill and gaze through the window at the lake in front of the stately home. A dense fog hovers over it. The first rays of sun appear above the tree tops. I open the window just a little and inhale the fresh cool air feeling the promise of a beautiful and refreshing sunny day.

As I walk into the large kitchen-diner, I see my parents, brother and sister-in-law, seated at a large table covered with a white embroidered table cloth. There’s plenty to eat; freshly-baked croissants, Kaiser buns, multi-grain rolls and large dishes with all sorts of fillings. Once I’m seated my mother passes me a cup of freshly made tea. We all slept like kings and feel rested and refreshed; ready for a full-day hike through the forest and to enjoy each other’s company in these beautiful surroundings.

Nederlands Na een lange autorit door een betoverend berglandschap draaien we de oprit van het landhuis op. Onze gastheer wacht ons al op met een warm onthaal. Binnen hangen aan de plafond grote kroonluchters en in de hoek brand een haardvuur.

Als ik de volgende ochtend wakker word en de gordijnen open doe in het landhuis waar wij overnachten, zie ik een mistig landschap. Ik sla een warme plaid om me heen en kruip in de vensterbank. Ik kijk uit over het meer dat voor het landhuis ligt. Een dikke mist hangt boven het meer. Net boven de boomtoppen komen de eerste zonnestralen tevoorschijn.

Ik open het raam een klein stukje en snuif de frisse koele lucht op. Ik voel de belofte van een mooie zonnige frisse dag.

Als ik de grote leefkeuken inloop, zie ik mijn ouders, broer en schoonzus al zitten aan een grote tafel die gedekt is met geborduurd wit tafelkleed. Op tafel staan heerlijke versgebakken croissants, kaiserbroodjes, meergranen pistolets en grote schalen met beleg. Als ik ga zitten zet mijn moeder een kop verse thee neer. We hebben allemaal vorstelijk geslapen en zijn fris en uitgerust; klaar voor een dag wandelen door de bossen en genieten van elkaars gezelschap in deze omgeving.
