PROJECT: Warehouse conversion to boutique hotel

ADDRESS: Camperdown, NSW 2050

Brief: To create a unique, immersive boutique hotel experience that will attract more local customers and tourists as well as have international appeal with a focus on bringing a new demographic to the inner west.

We are not bound to reality. The concept of boundless is to fully immerse the guest in a transcendent sensory experience, exploring the ethereal qualities of the increasing popular new media art movement.

A harmony of new technology and the human desire to escape reality propels artists to create a deeper connection to their works. A removal of time and frame that focuses on engaging all the senses.

Boundless aims to create an experience that escapes normalcy through the surreal qualities of light, colour and illusion while reflecting the repeating vibrations felt through the senses.

A concept cocktail bar inspired by the experimentation and alluring mysticism that alchemy was founded upon. A curation of specially designed cocktails will be available from the innovative and highly regarded team at Eau De Vie. The cocktails are made to be with served with a light tone of theatrics, some smoke and fire.

The design has been inspired by the form and materiality of scientific equipment. Using fluid shapes, translucency and mirror as a foundation for the many custom elements of the space .

Selected art has informed the colour palette of the design, while gold elements reference the historical practice of Alchemy.

The materials have been selected to reinforce the earthy concept while using fluid shapes and strong textural materials to add to the motif of sensory exploration. The palette has been informed by Claire Kirkup’s night stalkers, a contemporary work with earthy neural tones, streaks of blush pink and earthy greens

A vibrant rooftop community garden and cafe, with featured street art by Reko Rennie and space for art installations that reflects the inner west community.

PROJECT: Shipping container popup experience.

ADDRESS: Camperdown Commons, NSW 2050

Create a contemporary and innovative brand experience in the PopUp site using shipping containers. The PopUp is to be used by guests of the hotel or by the local community.

A pop up experience created from shipping containers is to be used as a branding/marketing tool for Boundless boutique hotel and help promote the work of local emerging artists. The Popup consists of 4 ‘rooms’ that are immersive art installations reflecting the experience of the different suites at Boundless. The artworks are chosen through a competition run for emerging new media artists to create an art installation inspired by one of the suite concepts. The winning artists will have their instillation brought to life and featured in one of the spaces within the Pop Up.

PROJECT: Travelling exhibtion chair display

ADDRESS: Australia

Brief: Design a traveling exhibition space to display a chair by an emerging or a well-known designer.

Exhibition space is to reflect the concept behind the chair you have selected and reference the designer’s body of work.

FUSED CHAIR, 2017 JOYCE LIN CONCEPT MODELS

A Fraction represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts.

This concept is inspired by the elements that run up the back of the chair which looks like a fraction or each broken piece of the deconstructed chair. Inspired by the use of fraction in the golden ratio, I looked at how the fibonnacci sequence can be used as a tool for measurement in a concept model.

The exterior shell or ‘fractions’ is using the mathematical equation as a linear measurement .
