About Beck

Beck Medical Equipment Planning

Our approach to medical equipment planning is simple - the right experience and personnel to provide support and continuity for your projects.

Beck provides comprehensive medical equipment planning services for healthcare construction projects. Our approach is to provide the professional staff and technical support needed to support projects through all phases – space programming, design and development, procurement, construction, occupancy and post-occupancy. Continuity of staff and process throughout the entire project results in better outcomes and a project that meets or exceeds expectations.

Many healthcare networks are structured to provide in-house support for their construction projects. For these facilities, Beck can provide targeted services that augment the overall process. Examples include coordination of critical path equipment to the job site, documentation of final specifications for clinical equipment and systems, review of vendor site-specific drawings and walk-thrus to ensure site preparedness for vendor installed equipment.

Our medical equipment planning services include:

• Pre-Design

• Design and Planning

• Procurement

• Construction Administration & Coordination

Beck’s key leadership team members include Christena Fournier and Mike Cardinal, who have experience working together for nearly a decade. The robust team has experience providing medical equipment planning services for a multitude of healthcare systems including:

Design & Planning

Preliminary Cost Estimate Report

Beck will prepare a preliminary Room by Room cost estimate based on the schematic information provided. Adjustments to New vs. Existing equipment will be made based on the results of the Medical Equipment Inventory/Re-Use report.

User Group Meetings

Beck will attend architect’s User Group design meetings. During these meetings, Beck will participate in the process of identifying and determining the specific types of medical equipment that will be needed to support the clinical and operational functions of each space within each department.

Hospital standards will be supported and medical equipment options will be provided that support best practice methodologies, evidence based design and specific objectives such as LEED certification. Beck will identify Critical Path Equipment and facilitate the process of selecting Vendors and obtaining Vendor site-specific shop drawings early in the design process. After each round of User Group meetings Beck will prepare and issue a revised Room by Room cost estimate report, a revised ASE Specification Repor.t

Detailed Equipment Schedule Illustrates the various components and how they connect to each other; perfect for those areas that have multiple vendors to coordinate with.

Elevation and 3D Renderings of complex spaces as early as D1 provide greater coordination between users and design team.

Providence Free Standing Emergency Department

Right size, right location.

Beck collaborated with Atrium to develop a new prototype for immediate care in the Charlotte community. The new Providence Freestanding Emergency Department provides close-to-home comprehensive services with eight exam rooms, two trauma rooms, two observation rooms, a rapid medical evaluation space, as well as imaging and laboratory services. Moving forward, this program will hopefully serve as the model for other Freestanding Emergency Departments for Atrium Health in terms of size and efficiency. In addition to this structure, there are plans to place a medical office building adjacent to this facility increasing Atrium’s presence in this growing community.

Iredell Health

Iredell Mooresville Community Care Clinic

Inspiring well-being.

Iredell Health System was originally established as a community hospital based on serving the needs of the people of Iredell County. The main hospital, located in Statesville, NC, has experienced tremendous growth in the past several years. In an effort to effectively serve the needs of the community the system built a new campus in Mooresville, NC, located several miles north of the main campus. The first building on this campus is focused around providing local, cost-effective patient care that still gives the patients the welcoming, top-level care they would receive at the main campus. The program of the Iredell Mooresville Community Care Clinic includes an ambulatory surgery center and urgent care to create a much more cost efficient option to inpatient surgery and an emergency department visit.

This facility also includes an imaging center, a physical therapy gym, and outpatient clinics as they were seen as large needs for the Mooresville community.
