I have a pet peeve. I hate looking for things. When I find them, I assign them a place, the right place. A place for everything and everything in its place. My family is amazed that I can tell them exactly where things are around my house; I can even tell them what’s in the junk drawer. This is probably because of my leftbrain dominance, a smidge of OCD, and my love of order, lists, and routines. This structure helps me to have productive and successful days. It works just right for me.
God wants each of us to be productive and successful. He establishes our steps (Proverbs 16:9), he has plans to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11), and he assures us if we stumble, we will not fall (Psalms 37:23-24). We need to be well-positioned. Found 27 times in the Old Testament, the Hebrew word Qarah (kah-raw) means being in the right place at the right time and position for the right happenings.
Abraham’s servant prayed for qarah. In Genesis 24:12, he prayed, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success [qarah] this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.” He was successful. Esther was at the right place at the right time (Esther 4: 8-16). Philip was at the right place at the right time (Acts 8: 26-40). Nehemiah was at the right place at the right time (Nehemiah 1: 1-11). Like them, we need to be well-positioned.

Positioning requires that we understand there is a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and a proper time and procedure for every matter (Ecclesiastes 8:6). It is important to be in the right place at the right time. Ecclesiastes 9:11 says, "I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
Being well-positioned takes intentional work. It starts with making sure our hearts are right. Matthew 12:34 says, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Proverbs 25: 11-12 says, "Saying the right thing at the right time is like a golden apple in a silver setting. Wise advice to a listening ear is like gold earrings or fine jewelry.” Like David, let us ask God to “create in me a clean heart,” (Psalm 51:10).
Sometimes the blessing, our success, is right in front of us, but we are not positioned to see it. Instead of digging for gold in a silver mine, let us work at being in the right place at the right time. Trust God and know, “When the time is right I, the Lord, will make it happen,” (Isaiah 60:22).

In today's society, it has become increasingly apparent that our devotion to the Church may be rooted more in celebrity culture, the pursuit of power, and material wealth than genuine reverence for the divine. The example of King David serves as a reminder that even biblical figures grappled with the allure of worldly pleasures and the consequences of misguided actions.
Our obsession with pastors as celebrities can cloud our spiritual judgment and create an environment where we prioritize charisma over character. We must remain vigilant in ensuring that our devotion is directed toward God and not individuals who may exploit their positions of power.
The pursuit of wealth and influence within the Church can also lead to moral compromise and a distorted sense of priorities. The Church should serve as a refuge for those seeking spiritual guidance and support, not a platform for self-aggrandizement or financial gain.

It is crucial for us as Christians to examine our motives and question whether our actions align with biblical teachings. We must be wary of the temptations that come with power and resist the urge to justify our actions by invoking God's name. As the Church faces challenges in maintaining its moral compass, we must remember the lessons of King David, who ultimately repented and sought redemption.
In conclusion, let us collectively engage in self-reflection and refocus our energies on fostering genuine spiritual growth, humility, and compassion within the Church. We will share the story of Shantasia, who was born prematurely at 33.6 weeks, weighing 5.4 pounds. Initially, her progress seemed promising, but after being moved from the high-intensity NICU to the regular NICU, her condition took a turn for the worse. Neglect and medical abuse led to bruising and severe wounds. Upon noticing swelling, Shantasia's family sought care at the ER, where they received a diagnosis of congenital nephrotic syndrome. Since then, their experience at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) has been challenging.
