man who rose from the ashes of a tumultuous childhood, addiction, and incarceration to become a beacon of hope and inspiration for others. Waymon's journey is a testament to the power of resilience, self-discovery, and the undeniable potential for change.
A Painful Beginning
Waymon's story begins in the shadows of an absent father. Growing up without a paternal figure left him feeling abandoned and alone, emotions that would shape his early life. Struggling to cope, Waymon found solace in acting out, a behavior that ultimately led to him being expelled from every school system in the state of New York. Diagnosed as "dumb" by his family and internalizing their words, Waymon's self-esteem plummeted. To dull the pain, he turned to drugs and alcohol, descending into a world of addiction and criminal activity. This downward spiral eventually landed him in prison, where he spent seven long years behind bars

Prison was a wake-up call for Waymon, as he witnessed the devastating effects of incarceration on his fellow inmates. The screams of men being raped and the anguish of those who felt they couldn't survive being away from their families haunted him. But the defining moment came when his 12-year-old daughter said she wanted a man just like him, and his 7-year-old questioned his love for her and her mother.
These heartfelt words hit Waymon like a ton of bricks. He knew he had to change, not just for his own sake, but for the sake of his children and family. It was at this low point that the phoenix within him began to stir.
The Rise of a New Man
Waymon's transformation was nothing short of remarkable. He committed himself to self-improvement and refused to let his past define him. Through determination and hard work, Waymon turned his life around and emerged as a successful entrepreneur, speaker, and community leader.

Black Women Means Addressing Police Misconduct

In 1984, Alexzina Griffin, a Black woman, suffered a traumatic and life-altering experience at the hands of law enforcement officers who mistakenly entered her home. Now, nearly 40 years later, we see a tragic parallel in the case of Sonya Massey, a 36-year-old Black woman who was killed by a white deputy inside her Illinois home. Both cases serve as painful reminders of the need for systemic change in policing and the protection of Black women.
The Story of Alexzina Griffin:
In 1984, law enforcement officers responding to a domestic violence call mistakenly entered the home of Alexzina Griffin, a Black woman. The officers' intrusion resulted in severe injuries to Alexzina, including a broken mouth that required wiring shut. Though her family sued the City of Rochester and eventually won the case, the emotional trauma of the experience lingers to this day.

The Tragic Case of Sonya Massey:
Fast forward to present day, and we see a hauntingly similar case in the death of Sonya Massey. Massey, a 36year-old Black woman, was shot and killed by a white deputy inside her Illinois home, once again highlighting the dangers Black women face during encounters with law enforcement.
The Need for Change:
These tragic events serve as a call to action, demanding that we address the issue of police misconduct and the systemic racism that continues to put Black women in harm's way. By examining data on the number of Black women killed by police and working to implement tangible changes within law enforcement agencies, we can begin to create a safer, more just society for Black women and their families

A Call for Unity:
As a community, we must come together to demand accountability from our law enforcement officials and support efforts to protect Black women from the violence they too often face. It is only through our collective voice and action that we can hope to prevent tragedies like those experienced by Alexzina Griffin and Sonya Massey from happening again.
In the wake of Massey’s killing, there is renewed urgency for alternative response programs. Eugene, OR, is the home of one of the most well-known of these programs, Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets

In today's digital age, it's no surprise that many churches have taken to social media platforms to attract new members and engage with their existing congregations. However, as with any marketing strategy, it's important to look beyond the surface and examine the motivations behind these online campaigns.
As you delve deeper into a church's social media presence, you may find that the primary goal is not to foster spiritual growth or build genuine community, but rather to lure you into attending their services. This tactic, often referred to as "bait and switch," can leave you feeling misled and disappointed once you discover that the online persona doesn't match the reality of the church experience.
It's crucial to approach these online interactions with a discerning eye and to thoroughly research a church before committing to its community. Consider attending services, speaking with current members, and reading unbiased reviews to gain a clearer understanding of the church's values, culture, and practices. By taking the time to make an informed decision, you can ensure that you're choosing a place of worship that aligns with your beliefs and values, rather than simply buying into the hype.

In a candid discussion on BeBrave Conversations, We reviewed Shannon Sharpe highlights of Katt Williams' controversial statement, "all lies will be exposed," drawing parallels between the public's rejection of Williams and the church's claim to expose falsehoods. This compelling comparison prompts a thoughtprovoking analysis of accountability, transparency, and the consequences of deceit, both in public figures and within religious institutions.
By exploring this complex topic, Shannon brings to light a stark juxtaposition between the church's professed ideals of being set apart from the world and its actual practices. The church often touts itself as different and morally superior, yet when individuals fail to conform to its rules, they face a fate similar to that of Katt Williams, experiencing exclusion and rejection. This hypocrisy calls into question the very foundation of the church's purported values, challenging listeners to re-evaluate their perceptions and expectations of religious institutions.

Word Wednesday Nugget Right Place, Right Time
Rebekah McCloud
I have a pet peeve. I hate looking for things. When I find them, I assign them a place, the right place. A place for everything and everything in its place. My family is amazed that I can tell them exactly where things are around my house; I can even tell them what’s in the junk drawer. This is probably because of my leftbrain dominance, a smidge of OCD, and my love of order, lists, and routines. This structure helps me to have productive and successful days. It works just right for me.
God wants each of us to be productive and successful. He establishes our steps (Proverbs 16:9), he has plans to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11), and he assures us if we stumble, we will not fall (Psalms 37:23-24). We need to be well-positioned. Found 27 times in the Old Testament, the Hebrew word Qarah (kah-raw) means being in the right place at the right time and position for the right happenings.
Abraham’s servant prayed for qarah. In Genesis 24:12, he prayed, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success [qarah] this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.” He was successful. Esther was at the right place at the right time (Esther 4: 8-16). Philip was at the right place at the right time (Acts 8: 26-40). Nehemiah was at the right place at the right time (Nehemiah 1: 1-11). Like them, we need to be well-positioned.
Word Wednesday Nugget Right Place, Right Time
Rebekah McCloud
Positioning requires that we understand there is a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and a proper time and procedure for every matter (Ecclesiastes 8:6). It is important to be in the right place at the right time. Ecclesiastes 9:11 says, "I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
Being well-positioned takes intentional work. It starts with making sure our hearts are right. Matthew 12:34 says, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Proverbs 25: 11-12 says, "Saying the right thing at the right time is like a golden apple in a silver setting. Wise advice to a listening ear is like gold earrings or fine jewelry.” Like David, let us ask God to “create in me a clean heart,” (Psalm 51:10).
Sometimes the blessing, our success, is right in front of us, but we are not positioned to see it. Instead of digging for gold in a silver mine, let us work at being in the right place at the right time. Trust God and know, “When the time is right I, the Lord, will make it happen,” (Isaiah 60:22).
Reexamining Our Allegiances: A Call for SelfReflection in the Church
In today's society, it has become increasingly apparent that our devotion to the Church may be rooted more in celebrity culture, the pursuit of power, and material wealth than genuine reverence for the divine. The example of King David serves as a reminder that even biblical figures grappled with the allure of worldly pleasures and the consequences of misguided actions.
Our obsession with pastors as celebrities can cloud our spiritual judgment and create an environment where we prioritize charisma over character. We must remain vigilant in ensuring that our devotion is directed toward God and not individuals who may exploit their positions of power.
The pursuit of wealth and influence within the Church can also lead to moral compromise and a distorted sense of priorities. The Church should serve as a refuge for those seeking spiritual guidance and support, not a platform for self-aggrandizement or financial gain.
Reexamining Our Allegiances: A Call for Self-Reflection in the Church
It is crucial for us as Christians to examine our motives and question whether our actions align with biblical teachings. We must be wary of the temptations that come with power and resist the urge to justify our actions by invoking God's name. As the Church faces challenges in maintaining its moral compass, we must remember the lessons of King David, who ultimately repented and sought redemption.
In conclusion, let us collectively engage in self-reflection and refocus our energies on fostering genuine spiritual growth, humility, and compassion within the Church. By remaining steadfast in our commitment to God and resisting worldly distractions, we can build a community that embodies the true values of our faith.
Navigating the Boundaries of Sin, Grace,
and
Accountability in Christianity
In the Christian faith, the line between what constitutes sin and what does not often depends on interpretation, context, and denominational beliefs. The Bible provides guidance on various moral issues but leaves room for personal conviction and spiritual growth. While the definition of sin may vary, it is generally understood as actions or thoughts that go against God's will or commands.
Grace, a central tenet of Christianity, is the unmerited favor and forgiveness that God extends to sinners. It is not a finite resource but a boundless expression of divine love. However, grace should not be misconstrued as a "get out of jail free card" for repeated transgressions. True repentance involves genuine remorse, a commitment to change, and a willingness to accept the consequences of one's actions
Some argue that power, money, and influence may skew the application of grace, leading to exceptions to the rules. Recent controversies involving church leaders have highlighted concerns about accountability and transparency. In one instance, a pastor faced criticism
Navigating the Boundaries of Sin, Grace, and Accountability in Christianity
some defended the pastor's actions as "personal matters," others questioned the appropriateness of such behavior for a spiritual leader.
The question remains: How should the church balance forgiveness and accountability in cases of pastoral misconduct? While grace is essential to the Christian faith, the Church must also ensure that the concept is not exploited to evade responsibility or perpetuate injustice. John the Baptist, known for his unwavering commitment to righteousness, serves as a reminder that leaders must be held to high moral standards to maintain the integrity of the Church
In conclusion, the boundaries of sin and grace in Christianity are complex, and the Church must strive to maintain clarity and consistency in addressing moral issues. As Christians grapple with questions of forgiveness and accountability, the importance of humility, honesty, and integrity remains paramount.

Despite the NFL publicly acknowledging Colin Kaepernick's stance as being right, he still hasn't found a job within the league. Kaepernick's peaceful protests during the National Anthem in 2016, highlighting police brutality against Black men, were met with controversy and backlash, ultimately leading to his departure from the San Francisco 49ers

The Paradox of Black Elitism: How Critiques of Exclusivity Reinforce
Divisions within the Black Community
Black elitism, an unfortunate byproduct of centuries of systemic oppression, has long perpetuated divides within the African American community. The same prominent voices who call out gatekeepers for their exclusionary practices often engage in similar behaviors, creating a cyclical pattern of division that undermines the progress of collective Black empowerment This article will explore the paradoxical nature of Black elitism, examining its historical roots and its harmful consequences on the community at large.
Historical Roots of Black Elitism
Slavery's enduring legacy has left a deep-seated impact on the Black psyche The ingrained sense of inferiority fostered during slavery has morphed into a hierarchical system of judgment and exclusion among African Americans Black elitism rooted in the attainment of financial success and social status has created a culture where acceptance into certain groups hinges on one's perceived socioeconomic standing
Critiquing Exclusion While Perpetuating It
Prominent figures such as Roland Martin, Shannon Sharpe, and Monique have each expressed frustration with the lack of support within the Black community, while simultaneously upholding the same gatekeeping practices they criticize This duality of practice reinforces barriers that separate Black individuals by income, power, and status, perpetuating a divisive cycle that undermines the solidarity essential to Black progress.
Remedying the Divide
To overcome the harmful effects of Black elitism, it is crucial to acknowledge the underlying trauma that has resulted from centuries of systemic oppression. Healing must begin by recognizing that elitist tendencies are often born from a need to assert control in a society that has historically sought to subjugate Black individuals

D Vance's Disparaging Remarks: A
Call for Respect Towards Veterans
Recent comments made by JD Vance, disparaging veterans and their service, have sparked outrage and backlash from many, including those with personal connections to military families. As the daughter of a Navy veteran and sister to another, I feel compelled to address the importance of respecting our veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country.
Veterans have selflessly dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms and securing our safety. They have put themselves in harm's way, faced unimaginable challenges, and endured countless hardships, all in the name of service. To dismiss or belittle their efforts is not only insensitive but also deeply disrespectful.
JD Vance's remarks are a stark reminder of the need to foster a culture of gratitude and appreciation for our veterans. Their service deserves to be honored, not mocked or trivialized. We must all strive to recognize their bravery, dedication, and the lasting impact their service has on our nation.
As we remember the sacrifices made by veterans like my father and brother, let us use this moment to call for greater understanding, empathy, and respect for those who have served.
