Final theses project (PFC), Somos la UVA*
// The project, which received an honorable mention on urban regeneration by the COAM, consists on the rehabilitation of the UVA of Hortaleza, a working-class neighborhood built in the 60’s by Fernando Higueras, which is now in shambles and which is being demolished even though it’s cultural heritage. The idea is to propose a sustainable alternative to the demolition through a co-living and co-working community. This design approaches new family types and lifestyles, rehabilitation, accessibility, low emissions building, circular economy and spatial enrichment.
// *Somos la UVA is the name of an OFIAM campaign that promotes the neighbors’ requests and needs. Which is adopted with the purpose of supporting said campaign and bring to light the pressing need of high quality urban regenerations, in this and other areas, that would prompt strategic solutions to people, neighborhoods and the city of Madrid.
