DIVE INTO OCEAN LEARNING AND FUN WITH AQUARIUM’S VIRTUAL WINTER KIDS CLUB Winter Kids Club will feature live online classes with educators and at-home activities for kids, from kindergartners to twelfth graders From January 4 to 8, 2021, the Aquarium of the Pacific will offer its Winter Kids Club as part of its Online Academy programming. This will include the existing Online Academy classes bundled with at-home activities, like scavenger hunts, crafts, coloring sheets, and guided explorations of the Aquarium’s exhibit webcams. Half-hour online classes led by an Aquarium educator for various grade levels will be offered each day at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. Classes are available for the following grade levels: pre-K to kindergarten, kindergarten to second grade, third to fifth grade, and sixth to twelfth grade. No sign-ups are required,

and participation is free. The Winter Kids Club is part of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Online Academy, which offers free live and on-demand educational resources for both kids and adults. Monday, January 4, to Friday, January 8, 2021 / 30-minutes classes will be held at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. each day during the session. Homicide Bureau Asking For Info About Murder of 4-YearOld Boy from Altadena On October 27, 2020, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Fifth District, reinstated the $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of 4-year-old Salvador “Chavita” Esparza from Altadena. On July, 5, 2016, 4-yearold Salvador was shot and killed as he stood in the doorway of a residence located on the 300 block of Figueroa Drive in Altadena. Salvador was just an innocent victim who was

caught in the crossfire of a gang-related incident. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau Detectives are still seeking the public’s help with any information about this case and are asked to call Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or you can remain anonymous by calling “Crime Stoppers by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477). Woman Charged with Fatal Hit-and-Run of Two Boys Faces 34 years in Prison A 57-year-old woman has been charged with fatally running over two young boys then fleeing the scene in September, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today. Rebecca Grossman (dob 6/14/63) of Hidden Hills faces two felony counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. She also faces one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. Grossman is scheduled to be arraigned

today in Department 100 of Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. Case LA093990 is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ryan Gould of the D.U.I. Training and Prosecution Section (DTAPS). On September 29, 2020, Grossman allegedly drove at excessive speeds on Triunfo Canyon Road in Westlake Village, and struck and killed 11-yearold Mark Iskander and 8-year-old Jacob Iskander, who were crossing the street in a marked cross-

walk with their parents. After allegedly striking the children, Grossman allegedly continued driving, eventually stopping about one-quarter mile away from the scene when her car engine cutoff.

If convicted as charged, Grossman faces a possible maximum sentence of 34 years to life in state prison. The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
