Monrovia Police and FBI Arrest Russian National On Saturday, Aug. 22, FBI agents and Monrovia police located a Russian national wanted in connection to a malicious software plot to extract data and extort ransom money. The suspect’s vehicle was detected at a residence in the city of Monrovia last Saturday morning. While the circumstances and connection to the Monrovia address are unknown at this time, he was taken into custody by federal agents with the assistance of officers from the Monrovia Police Department. Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov, 27, a citizen of Russia, was charged in a complaint with one count of conspiracy to intentionally cause damage to a protected computer. SEE RUSSIAN NATIONAL PAGE 3

Demands for police oversight, protests continue to evolve after massive public outcry over recent police shooting fatality Terry MILLER

t a record-breaking, lengthy City Council meeting Monday, councilmembers finally agreed, unanimously, on an outline for the creation of a Police Oversight Committee. During Monday’s council meeting, the
predominant issue was the police shooting and killing of a Black man on Aug. 15 as he ran away from police during a routine traffic stop. Frustrated residents have been trying to address the disconnect in Pasadena for years. Since the shooting of Anthony McClain last Saturday, the peaceful protests have remained in Pasadena. However, on Sunday
an estimated crowd of about 70 Black Lives Matter protesters took their frustration to Los Angeles City Hall for more visibility.
