former Los Angeles Police Department officer was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years to life in state prison for killing a 23-year-old man in downtown Pomona five years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Henry Solis was found guilty last month of one count of second-degree murder. The special allegation that Solis personally used a firearm was found true. Deputy District Attorneys Martha Carrillo and

Colorado River Station (CRS) deputies responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Criminal Threats in the 24600 block of School Rd. in the unincorporated area of Ripley, CA. Upon arrival, Deputies detained Travon Tyndale, 24 years old, of Ripley. The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between Travon and the victim, escalated into a physical altercation. During the assault the victim was knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched in the face and head. During a break in the fight, Travon left the location, but returned a short time later brandishing a machete. The machete was not used in the

assault. Witnesses confirmed that during the verbal altercation Travon threatened to burn the victim’s house down, and threaten to “kill” the victim during the assault. The victim was later transported to the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Travon was booked into the Blythe Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats. RCSD is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Livingston at (760) 921-7900 and reference incident #A200690025. Callers can remain anonymous.
